RESOLUTION NO. 85-2~
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE TEXAS STATE DEPARTMENT OF
HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORTATION TO IMPROVE THE NORTH BOUND FEEDER
ROAD OF STATE HIGHWAY 146 (NORTH 9TH STREET); AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. The North Bound Feeder Road of State Highway
146 (North 9th Street), presently is one-way from West Main
Street, to approximately the intersection of 9th Street and West
Adams Street. The right-of-way of the Feeder between West Adams
Street and West Tyler Street is unimproved.
The right-of-way
from West Tyler Street north to Barbour's Cut Boulevard, is
improved and open to two-way traffic, however, the pavement is
in poor condition.
Section 2. In order to make this section of North Bound
Feeder Road a continuous street, from West Main Street to Barbour's
Cut Boulevard, approximately seven hundred (700) feet of new
pavement construction will be needed to connect the two paved
sections. Approximately fourteen hundred (1400) feet of the
existing improved North Bound Feeder Road will have to be re-
constructed, or overlayed, between the new pavement ending at West
Tyler, north to Barbour's Cut Boulevard.
Section 3. Inasmuch as the southern-most portion of this
Feeder Road is one-way, the entire section between West Main
Street and Barbour's Cut Boulevard should be designated one-way,
North Bound, upon completion
to insure the safety of the
traveling public.
Section 4. The City Council of the City of La Porte
petitions the Texas State Department of Highways and Transporta-
tion, to take immediate steps to approve and fund the construction
of a North Bound Feeder on State Highway 146 in La Porte, from
West Main Street to Barbour's Cut Boulevard, at the earliest
possible date.
