RESOLUTION NO. 85-20 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE LA PORTE TEXANS' WAR ON DRUGS FOR A FULL-TIME COMMUNITY INTERVENTION PROGRAM WHEREAS, The La Porte Texans' War on Drugs began two years ago as a nonprofit organization, in response to concerned parents who wanted to prevent drug and alcohol abuse among the youth in our community; and WHEREAS, The organization proposes the extension of its program into full-time community intervention; and WHEREAS, In our opinion, this extension would provide highly positive benefits for the ~ity of La Porte, Texas; and WHEREAS, The primary purpose of the La Porte Texans' War on Drugs is to inform and educate parents, adolescents and children, and others about the dangers of marijuana, alcohol, and other mind-altering drugs, and WHEREAS, The organization's shared unity among families, educators, clergymen, law enforcement, and local business has brought the group successfully to this point; and WHEREAS, The extension of the program would enable the organization to continue its record of successes and to work with the community on a daily basis. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS THAT, the City Council of the City of La Porte, goes on record as supporting the efforts of the La Porte Texans' War On Drugs to secure a full-time community intervention program, which, if successful, would be extremely beneficial for the City of La Porte and its citizens.
