SUBI: New H-GA Office Hours
DATE: November 22, 1991
'"
H-GAC announces new office hours effective Monday, December 2, 1991.
':BeguuliIlg' hi DeCember we will be "adopting 'a "119/80" work schedule, in which
employees work 80 hours over 9 business days instead of 10. H-GAC's
switchboard will be open from 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
As a result of this schedule, our office will be closed every other Friday. A
receptionist will be on duty on these days during a transition period, and voice
message service will be available thereafter. A schedule of Friday closing dates
is attached.
As you are probably aware, new Federal air quality legislation will require major
employers in most of our region's counties to implement measures designated to
reduce employee work trips by 20%. Because H-GAC is the region's
transportation/air quality planning organization, we felt it was important to lead
by example and implement trip reduction programs. After study, it was
determined that revising our work hours was the single most effective way for us
to achieve significant work trip reductions. Employers which have already
implemented trip reduction work schedules report no decrease in productivity, and
increases in employee morale.
As part of our regional air quality planning responsibilities we will provide you
with information about a variety of trip reduction programs, and we will report
to you on the evaluation of our own program.
Please contact me if you have questions or comments on this program, or would
like more information on trip reduction programs.
