AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING MEMBERS TO VARIOUS BOARDS, COMMISSIONS,
AND COMMITTEES, OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH
THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:

Section 1. The City Council of the City of La Porte hereby

competent to serve on such Board by virtue of their experience and

Section 18. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause or any
part of any section, sentence, phrase, or clause, of this
ordinance shall, for any reasons, be held invalid, such invalidity
shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and it
is hereby declared to be the intention of this City Council to
have passed each section, sentence, phrase or clause, or part
thereof, irrespective of the fact that any other section,
sentence, phrase or clause, or part thereof, may be declared
invalid.
Section 19. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of such conflict
only.

Section 20. The City Council officially finds, determines,
recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the
date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council
was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of
the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as
required by the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Texas Government
Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as
required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the
subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally
acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and
confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof.
Section 21. This Ordinance shall be effective from and after
its passage and approval, and it is so ordered.

SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION
Attached is the appointment ordinance for Boards and Commissions. The positions without a name are vacant and
need a new member appointed. Individuals with 2005 expiration dates are noted *. The incumbents name has been
left in the position as no recommendations were made to replace existing members. This will reappoint individuals
to a new term.
Action Required by Council:
Consider approving Ordinance appointing positions to fill the remaining vacancies and reappointments on Boards

Dear Commissioner Garcia:
On November 23, 2004 the County appointed Lindsey R. Pfeiffer to serve on the City of
La Porte Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #1 (TIRZ) Board of Directors, Position 9 to
fill the remainder of the term of Harris County's previous appointee. This term, per
County's appointment, expiration date is October 31, 2005.
We respectfully request that you consider re -appointing Lindsey Pfeiffer to the County's
Position 9. This would provide the Board with continuity by retaining Mr. Pfeiffer.
The Board has made very positive advancements since its creation in 1999 because of
strong members such as Mr. Pfeiffer. His willingness to serve is proven by his input and
attendance at the board meetings.
