BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. The City Council of the City of La Porte has heretofore proposed the creation of the La Porte Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District under Chapter 344, Texas Local Government Code. Section 2. The City Council of the City of La Porte hereby appoints the following seven (7) persons, all of whom reside in the proposed district, which is the boundaries of the City of La Porte, to serve as temporary directors of the La Porte Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Services District, to-wit: Dottie Kaminski Robert Eldridge Danny campise Thomas Dye III Johnny Jones Paul R. Hickenbottom Rick A. Guzman A temporary director shall serve until his successor has been duly appointed and qualified. Section 3. Not later than the 75th day after December 13, 2010, the date the City Council of the City of La Porte proposed to create the district, the temporary board shall conduct a meeting to organize the board. The temporary directors shall elect one of its members as presiding officer of the board at that meeting. A temporary director other than the presiding officer may designate another person to serve in the director's place. The City Council of the City of La Porte shall fill a vacancy in the office of the temporary director in the same manner that it originally filled the vacant position. Section 4. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the city Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. Section 5.
