RESOLUTION NO. 2004 - Dcf
WHEREAS, the City of La Porte intends to make certain improvements to the LaPorte Municipal
Airport; and
WHEREAS, the general description of the project is described as: replace MIRL cables for
Runways 12-30 and 05-23, replace MITL cables for Taxiways A and TW B, replace rotating beacon and
tower, rehabilitate Taxiway B and cross taxiways, rehabilitate northwest hanger access taxiways, apron
and widen apron on northwestern end, rehabilitate aprons 1,2 & 3, reconstruct southwestern hanger access
taxiways, install 4 electronic gates, install 29 new lighted runway and taxiway guidance signs, construct
new southeast access taxiway, and relocate fencing in southwest corner ofFBO area; and
WHEREAS, the City of La Porte intends to request financial assistance from the Texas
Department of Transportation for these improvements; and
WHEREAS, total project cost are estimated to be $500,000, and the City of La Porte will be
responsible for 10% of the total project costs currently estimated to be $50,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of La Porte names the Texas Department of Transportation as its agent for
the purposes of applying for, receiving and disbursing all funds for these improvements and for the
administration of contracts necessary for the implementation of these improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA
PORTE, TEXAS THAT:
The City of La Porte hereby directs the City Manager to execute on behalf ofthe City of La Porte,
at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of this governing body, all contracts and
agreements with the State of Texas, represented by the Texas Department of Transportation, and such
other parties as shall be necessary and appropriate for the implementation of the improvements to the
LaPorte Municipal Airport.

SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION
On September 22,2003, the City Council approved an agreement with the Aviation Division of TexDOT
to accept a grant offer totaling $450,000 for improvements at the La Porte Municipal Airport. The City's
matching share will be $50,000. The attached resolution outlines the detailed scope of work, developed
in cooperation with the Airport Advisory Board, and presented to state officials on January 16, 2004, as
well as authorizing the City Manager to execute all contracts and agreements with the State on behalf of
the City.
The projects identified include replacement of Runway/Taxiway lighting (underground wiring), fencing
and gate improvements (including motorized gates), and overlay and seal coating of taxiways and ramps.
The scope of work is detailed in the attached resolution. The Resolution also names TexDOT as its agent
for applying, receiving and disbursing all funds for the improvements and for the administration of
contracts.
Funding for the City's 10% share ($50,000) is available in the Airport Fund. A total of$30,000 has been
budgeted in the Airport Fund.

implementation of the improvements to the La Porte Municipal Airport.
