HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2011-08 annexation of 28.65 acres fronting State Highway 225 RESOLUTION NO. 2011-0 011 - V 1 A RESOLUTION SETTING DATES, TIMES, AND PLACE FOR PUBLIC HEARINGS ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY INTO THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. That on the 10th day of October, 2011, at 6:00 P.M., and the 24th day of October, 2011, at 6:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers of City Hall of the City of La Porte, the La Porte City Council will hold public hearings giving all interested persons the right to appear and be heard on the proposed annexation by the City of La Porte of the property described on Exhibit "A" attached hereto, incorporated by reference herein, and made a part hereof for all purposes. Section 2. That the Director of Planning of the City of La Porte is hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of such public hearings to be published once each in a newspaper having general circulation in the City and in the above described territory not more than twenty (20) nor less than eleven (11) days prior to the date of such public hearings. The Director of Planning is also authorized and directed to cause notice of such hearings to be posted on the City's internet website no more than twenty (20) nor less than eleven (11) days prior to the date of such public hearings. All notices shall be in accordance with the Texas annexation laws codified at Chapters 42 and 43, Texas Local Government Code. Section 3. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this resolution and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. Section 4.
