A factory fabricated, Listed, Double Walled Tank Assembly providing secondary containment, set on a portable skid, with modifications to prevent fuel spills, detect leaks, dispense and monitor product, and minimize exposure to the elements. Using this concept, U-FUEL Systems are configured to handle specific applications, be economical, and conform with applicable regulations. CONFIGURATIONS (One and two product systems) Standby Systems Listed Double Walled Tanks with all applicable vents valves and fittings, requiring a tank top pump and/or piping to a remote location. Systems with Pad Fuel systems with pumps, set on a pad attached to the tank. These systems contain all required vents, valves, piping and electrical components necessary to fuel vehicles when connected to a power source. Aviation & Marine Fuel systems with pumps, filters, reels, and added safety equipment designed for fueling vehicles a considerable distance from the pump. FIRE RESISTANT TANKS Single Wall Single Wall Tanks tested and listed to withstand UL 2085 fire exposure. Double Wall Double Wall Tanks tested and listed to withstand UL 2085 fire exposure. Thermo Tanks Thermo Tank systems tested and listed under UL 2085 as Fire Resistant, insulated to 12.45 "R" Factor. TANK FILL OPTIONS Top Fill Standard for tanks smaller than 8' in diameter. Top fill systems include a fill tube, spill container with drain to the tank, lockable cover, and high level warning alarm. Stage I Vapor Recovery adaptors are available with top fill systems. Bottom Load Standard for tanks 8' in diameter and larger. Bottom loading systems include a 3" cam lock fill with locking cover, a 20 mesh screen strainer, check valve, gate valve, detachable spill container with drain, and overfill protection valve. U-FUEL Design Characteristics Double WalLS-teeLiank All U-FUEL tanks are built of high quality steel with the product tank completely encased by an outer steel tank. Any leak in the product tank is totally contained by the outer tank providing secondary containment. Both tanks are constructed in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories' specifications and Steel Tank Institute standards for double walled tanks. U-FUEL Systems are listed and labeled by Southwest Research Institute. 1nt=tM.8LMgnLtnr= The best means to determine if there is a leak in the primary tank is to visually inspect the interstitial space between the tanks. U-FUEL has designed, tested and patented a gauge to monitor the interstitial space which will withstand impact and a two-hour petroleum fire in accordance with UL 1709. Should a leak occur in the product tank, it will be quickly noted in the simple, non - mechanical sight gauge. Eicr.Emeeganny Vents All U-FUEL Systems are equipped with an emergency vent for the product tank, sized to conform with NFPA 30 2- 3.6.4. Should the tank pressure exceed 8 oz. per square inch, the emergency vent will open and then close once excess pressure is released. Inter_sti W_V_eM All U-FUEL Systems are equipped with an interstitial vent sized to conform with requirements for emergency venting. Should the producttank ever rupture ins f re, the interstitial vent allows adequate venting of the secondary containment tank. In addition to the fire emergency vents all U-FUEL Systems are equipped with a pressure/vacuum working vent located on top of the tank extending to the proper height above ground level. This vent remains closed until there is a differential pressure between the tank and the atmosphere. The working vent, sized to conform with NFPA 30 2.3.5.2. 2.3.5.6, and 2-3.7.2. allows Stage I and Stage II vapor recovery, and minimal release of vapors into the air. All U-FUEL Systems are equipped with a means of inspecting and servicing the inside of the tank. Tanks with top fill systems may be entered by unbolting the manway/spill container. Bottom load tanks have a manway with optional internal ladder. 5PMQ8tCh Basin All U-FUEL Systems with front mounted pumps are constructed with a ventilated spill catch basin beneath the pump platform. The basin size varies with the size of the facility. All piping for standard facilities is located within the basin which provides secondary containment in accordance with NFPA 30A 4-2.1 and NFPA 30 3-4.2. A weatherproof hatch is constructed in the deck allowing easy access to piping and valves. The deck of the pump platform is removable for maintenance. Based on EPA studies, most fuel leaks occur in the pipe running from the tank to the dispenser. Piping for U-FUEL Systems is held to the absolute minimum (generally a maximum of five feet). Within this short span of pipe are located three safety features -- a fusible link fire emergency valve; a normally closed.solenoid valve; and a pressure valve and/or a shear.valve - all conforming with NFPA 30 3-3.3 and NFPA 30A 2-4.6.3 and 2-4.6.5. �Sage��Lapsc Etec2�tecY-L(�e-rflow Stage I vapor recovery piping and connections are standard on all bottom load U-FUEL Systems. In the unlikely event of a malfunction of an overfill valve, excess product will be pushed through the vapor recovery system back to the tanker truck. All fill connections are 3" cam lock fittings. Stage I vapor recovery is also available on top fill systems. 5tsge_l_-- Lap-QC_&QQQY_%rY Stage II vapor recovery is available on all single product U- FUEL Systems. For systems with pumps mounted on the front of the tank, the vapor recovery line runs from the spill catch basin (under the pump) into the tank, terminating inside the top of the tank. The required condensation drain valve is located within the spill containment basin. The fusible link emergency fire valve conforms with NFPA 30 2-3.8.1 and is located adjacent to the tank. The valve closes upon sensing heat from a fire. The valve can also be manually closed for maintenance of dispensing components while product remains in the tank. wnrymyrum .• wri Located adjacentto the fire valve, the solenoid controls the flow of productto the pump in accordance with NFPA 30A 2-1.7 and 2.4.6.3. The solenoid valve is always in the closed position except when the fuel pump is on. This assures no product leakage should a catastrophic incident occur. All U-FUEL facilities of 5,000 gallons or less use a 3" top fill system designed to conform with NFPA 30 2.3.8 and NFPA 30A 2-4.9.4. Fuel from the delivery truck enters the U-FUEL System through a 3" fill tube extending to within 6" from the bottom of the tank. The special fill tube with a 20 mesh filter, eliminates any splashing of fuel and limits dangerou's vaporization. Top Fill Warning-Systl�m Major product spills (25 gallons and over) generally occur when tanks are overfilled. To assure no spills from overfills and to conform with NFPA 30 2-3.4.1(e), U-FUEL has incorporated an overfill warning system for top fill tanks not requiring Stage I vapor recovery. The U-FUEL overfill warning system consists of an internal alarm which is activated when the tank reaches 90% capacity. When the tank reaches 95% capacity, the alarm quits and the tank will burp making it difficult to fill. For top fill systems with Stage I vapor recovery, a float activated shut-off valve is installed in the fill tube. Most large U-FUEL facilities have our unique 3" bottom loading system. The external components are located in a locked, liquid tight containment box with hinged lid attached to the end of the tank. Fuel from the delivery truck enters the tank through a 3" cam lock hose fitting, a 20 mesh filter screen, a manual gate valve, a one-way check valve, and then through an internal shut-off valve as required by NFPA 30A 2-4.9.4 and NFPA 30 2-3.4.1(e). Bottom loading is one of the safest ways to transfer large quantities of fuel. [ T71I -A V IfTS�f? All U-FUEL top fill systems are constructed with a spill container surrounding the fill tube with a relief port to allow any spilled product to drain back into the tank. Spills from bottom load systems are caught in a spill container with a manual drain. [1ATM111111• • u All U-FUEL facilities with bottom load systems have an internal float which closes an internal shut-off valve when the tank reaches 95% capacity. The shut-off valve is designed to begin closing when the tank is 90%full. giving the re-fueler sufficient time to monitor volume, stop fuel transfer, and prevent a major fuel spill. The internal shut- off valve also minimizes the possibility of filling the tank to the point where fuel expansion would cause a fuel spill as required by NFPA 30 2-3.4.1(a). All electrical wiring associated with the U-FUEL System is in conduit in accordance with Ch. 5. Art. 500. NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. Most U-FUEL facilities come equipped with a junction box at the rear of the tank to connect power. Gltndig All U-FUEL aboveground fuel facilities must be grounded at two points. The suggested site pad drawing will indicate the recommended location of two 1/2" grounding rods. All grounding requirements must be in accordance with NFPA 70. Eu-eLDi.sP_ens_fl The U-FUEL System is fabricated to accept most UL approved fuel dispensers manufactured by major pump suppliers. If the customer has a fuel dispenser (suction type) that is still in good condition, it is possible to modify the U-FUEL System to receive the used dispenser. The customer has the option of purchasing a complete facility with a fuel dispenser installed by U-FUEL, Inc. or purchasing a facility without a dispenser and installing a separately purchased unit. To insure water tight secondary containment under the pump, an exact drawing of the pump base is required to allow fabrication of a pump support section. Lebohng All U-FUEL Systems are built to UL 142 specifications for Secondarily Contained Aboveground Tanks and come with a Southwest Research Institute listing label affixed to the system. Other labels for product stared, instructional labels, and the U-FUEL logo are also affixed to the tank. fU7-TM77_-7A3M7'• =1 U-Fuel Systems are protected from the elements using a three step painting process. The complete system is first sand blasted then primed with a high solids epoxy primer, then painted with a quality Polyurethane paint. The lower portion of the tank is normally painted medium gray, minimizing visibility of dirt or stains, while the top of the tank is painted a brilliant white, reducing the impact of direct sun on the tank. Yisibilily Since U-FUEL Systems are completely aboveground, any leaks or malfunctions are readily apparent to the user allowing immediate action to be taken to correct any problems. All U-FUEL Pre -Fabricated Fire Res istantTanks have a high level audible alarm. This alarm is installed at the base of the vent pipe on top of the aboveground tank. Alarm is activated by high liquid level producing a loud beeping sound. Alarm chirps when battery is low. Eire Retimuntlanke (Non -Insulated) Olauhle WallEime_Auinant Tank All U-FUEL Double Wall Fire Resistant Tanks are uniquely fabricated to withstand high temperatures. The product tank is completely encased by an outer steel tank. Any leak in the product tank is totally contained by the outer tank providing secondary containment. Both tanks are constructed in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories' specifications and industry standards for double walled tanks. These tanks are listed and labeled'by Southwest Research Institute as "Secondarily Contained Fire Resistant Tanks" conforming with Section 2.4 of NFPA 30A, thereby meeting UL 2085 Fire Resistance criteria. The U-FUEL Double Well Fire Resistant Tank is typically sold with all of the above -noted design features. Sing(A—VVa[LFJLe_ReomtanzJa➢.k The Single Well Fire Resistant Tank developed by U-FUEL is uniquely constructed to withstand high temperatures and maintain structural integrity. A unique fabrication process is used in conjunction with special steel. The tank supports run the length of the tank which increases its' strength. The U-FUEL Single Wall Fire Resistant Tanks are typically sold without the vents, valves and fittings normally found on other U-FUEL Tanks. These tanks, ranging in sizes from 300 to 30,000 gallons, are ideal to replace existing tanks in a dike, or for large fuel farm applications where there is a need for a quality Fire Resistant Tank. Built to UL 142 standards, these Single Wall Tanks are Listed by Southwest Research Institute, as conforming with UL 2085 Fire Resistance criteria. ) �iTTT�'iT�r117 The Thermo Tank developed by U-FUEL is fire rated and provides an added level of safety and economy due to the insulation and fire resistant properties of its ceramic lining and other modifications to the basic U-FUEL System. Cscam. is Lining The U-FUELthermo lining is a ULrated ceramic fiber which has a service range up to 2,300 degrees F and a melting point of 3,200 degrees F - more than twice the values of fiberglass. It is unaffected by oil and water, is vastly superior in physical heat resistant properties to concrete, and weighs approximately 75%less. The 3" lining used by U-FUEL has an insulation "R" value of 12.45 and conforms with UL 1709 fire test criteria. The Thermo Tank can withstand 2,000 degrees F of temperature for two hours with minimal temperature increase to the inside tank, varying with the amount and type of product stored. he nk Qmmng;i Thermo Tank Vents and other openings are thermally protected using ceramic fiber. Failure to protect tank openings will allow a considerable amount of heattransfer through vents, pipes, and access areas. I aul-ated-Siphnn.9upply A unique feature of the Thermo Tank is its insulated siphon supply pipe located between the product tank and the secondary containment tank. The siphon supply is a continuously welded pipe beginning with a drop tube 2" from the bottom of the tank, exiting at the top of the product tank head, then running down the front of the product tank and exiting through the bottom of the secondary containment tank. (Similar to traditional U- FUEL tanks.) In the event of a fire, the unique insulated siphon supply provides an added barrier of protection. After heat closes the fire emergency valve, any product in the supply line reaching its boiling point will be forced back through the supply to the tank where it wi II be condensed by the cooler product and held for an extended period of time. •I•n The only installation expense required for a U-FUEL facility is the cost for a concrete pad if desired, the cost to bring electrical service to the site, and the cost to off load the system from the delivery truck. If a computer system is involved, a telephone line may need to be run to the site. Excavating, lining, special fill, piping, etc. are not required. Minimum-Be_r_mit�and _Wsfze-ctiono In most cases, the only permit required is issued by the State Fire Marshal with concurrence from the local approving authority. A construction permit may also be required. 7nsea Since the U-FUEL facility is portable, it is considered personal property and is taxed accordingly. Flexibility Because the U-FUEL facility is portable it gives the user Flexibility. The system can be easily relocated as business conditions change. BaBDID Value Since the U-FUEL System is a totally self contained, portable fuel facility, it should retain a fairly high resale value depending on care and replacement costs. U-FUEL has experienced high demand for trade in systems. Many lending institutions are reluctant to lend money for below ground fuel facilities. Should the borrower default, the lending institution may find itself owning property with limited use and/or a significant liability for the costs to clean up and remove tanks. Should the borrower default on an aboveground U-FUEL facility, the bank can easily repossess the facility for resale. Leasma U-FUEL has arranged for leasing systems. There are several options available which may provide ownership at the end of the lease period. Land-VWu-e When tanks are placed underground, the value of the land generally depreciates due to the potential of contamination from leakage. Since the U-FUEL facility can be easily removed, land values remain constant or follow the normal real estate trends. For fuel applications demanding stringent product quality control, a floating suction system is available. The Floating Suction takes fuel from the top, minimizing the potential of sucking water or particulate matter through filter systems. Most U-FUEL facilities can be equipped with computerized fuel management systems controlling access and monitoring usage. U-FUEL is a distributor of several systems which are normally installed at the factory. ( ] STAGE II VAPOR RECOVERY KIT PGVRK Returns vapor to tank while pumping fuel into vehicles by use of special nozzle, breakaway, coaxial hose, hose retractor, hose splitter at base of pump, and 3/4" vapor piping running under pump, to tank, through interstitial space to top of product tank. As fuel leaves the tank a vacuum is created which operates this balanced system. A valve is provided below the access hatch to remove condensation from the system. A special nozzle holder must be added to the pump. [ ] TOP MOUNT TICKET PRINTER (Zero Start) PGTMTP Mounted on top of the pump and mechanically connected to pump meter/register, the printer resets to zero when the pump is turned on. When fueling is complete, a ticket may be inserted and printed with gallons pumped by pulling a lever on the printer. [ ] HOSE RETRACTOR RGHHR2 Consisting of six foot aluminum column mounted to pump with hose clamp and spring reel, this kit is designed to handle up to 15 feet of hose. It protects the pumps, fuel management systems and equipment from rain, snow and the elements. The Hood also has a shelf over the light to store records or service equipment, keeping them out of sight and dry. The Hood is available with a climate controlled compartment for housing computers, loggers, modems and other equipment linking the fuel system to major networks. [ 1 HIGH HOSE RETRACTOR WITH LIGHT The High Hose Retractor is mounted to the tank adjacent to pump. It consists of a 20 foot steel column with dusk -to -dawn light. [ I FLOATING SUCTION A Floating Suction System is available which attaches to the suction pipe inside the tank and pulls clean fuel from the surface. Since most contaminates settle to the bottom of the tank, the Floating Suction is ideal for aviation and heavy volume systems. [ 1 IS2 - INTERNAL IGNITION SUPPRESSION SYSTEM For those desiring protection from a possible explosion in the event of a fire, the IS2 is en -option which installs inside the fuel tank. It is an inexpensive means of providing added protection required by some fire authorities. In the event of a fire, the IS2 neutralizes the potential for combustion. [ I FIRE SUPPRESSION UNDER HOOD The ADX Fire suppression system is installed in the hood over the fueling pad. In the event of a fire, the ADX system sprays fire suppression chemical on and around the fueling platform. [ I SECOND PAD OPTION For those desiring to maximize fueling locations at a tank, an additional patented containment pad with deck, is installed on the opposite end of the tank. This option allows four pumps to be mounted on both ends of the system with eight hoses. [ I FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INSTALLATION U-Fuel will install most brands of fuel management systems on our fueling pads. On -site start up is normally required by an Authorized Service Technician. Since systems vary in the amount of time and level of difficulty to install. U-Fuel must provide individual estimates for installation services. A deck compartment may be provided beneath the pumps for providing secondary containment about the supply pipes which arc used to supply the pumps and the refueling tubes which are used to refuel the storage tanks. The entire facility is portable, so that it may be redeployed at different loea. tions or airports as needed. CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT -SERVICES In response to requests for Turn Key Fuel Systems, U-Fuel established a Construction Man- agement Division to take charge of site preparation for Aboveground Installations. PHASE I - Planning Customers desiring Management. Services contract with U-Fuel to prepare a Project Plan, which normally includes code review, and site design with time and cost estimates. Normally within 90 days, a Project Plan is presented to a customer for approval. PHASE 11 - Preparation U-Fuel prepares permit applications, consults with authorities having jurisdiction, inspects the site, revises plans after site inspection, interviews contractors, accepts bids, finalizes cost and scheduling projections and obtains customer approval to commence construction. PHASE III - Construction Management U-Fuel manages construction throughout the United States under the umbrella of a Master Construction Trust. As Trustee, U-Fuel contracts with bidders, provides construction super- vision and management, prepares project draw requests, disburses funds, and arbitrates misunderstandings. PHASE IV - Installation and Training Installation normally occurs in one day. During installation, U-Fuel is present as systems arrive, are unloaded, checked out, energized, filled with fuel, and started up. U-Fuel supervises contractors and trains service and maintenance personnel to use the systems. PHASE V - Backup After Installation, U-Fuel Production and Parts Departments provide ongoing communication with fuel site personnel to insure any warranty items that occur are resolved and the system operates in the manner intended. A factory fabricated, Listed, Double Walled Tank Assembly providing secondary containment, set on a portable skid, with modifications to prevent fuel spills, detect leaks, dispense and monitor product, and minimize exposure to the elements. Using this concept, U-FUEL Systems are configured to handle specific applications, be economical, and conform with applicable regulations. CONFIGURATIONS (One and two product systems) Standby Systems Listed Double Walled Tanks with all applicable vents valves and fittings, requiring a tank top pump and/or piping to a remote location. Systems with Pad Fuel systems with pumps, set on a pad attached to the tank. These systems contain all required vents, valves, piping and electrical components necessary to fuel vehicles when connected to a power source. Aviation & Marine Fuel systems with pumps, filters, reels, and added safety equipment designed for fueling vehicles a considerable distance from the pump. FIRE RESISTANT TANKS Single Wall Single Wall Tanks tested and listed to withstand UL 2085 fire exposure. Double Wall Double Wall Tanks tested and listed to withstand UL 2085 fire exposure. Thermo Tanks Thermo Tank systems tested and listed under UL 2085 as Fire Resistant, insulated to 12.45 "R" Factor. TANK FILL OPTIONS Top Fill Standard for tanks smaller than 8' in diameter. Top fill systems include a fill tube, spill container with drain to the tank, lockable cover, and high level warning alarm. Stage I Vapor Recovery adaptors are available with top fill systems. Bottom Load Standard for tanks 8' in diameter and larger. Bottom loading systems include a 3" cam lock fill with locking cover, a 20 mesh screen strainer, check valve, gate valve, detachable spill container with drain, and overfill protection valve. U-FUEL Design Characteristics Double 1pLa1LSt_eA Dank All U-FUEL tanks are built of high quality steel with the product tank completely encased by an outer steel tank. Any leak in the product tank is totally contained by the outer tank providing secondary containment. Both tanks are constructed in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories' specifications and Steel Tank Institute standards for double walled tanks. U-FUEL Systems are listed and labeled by Southwest Research Institute. - u•� '• The best means to determine if there is a leak in the primary tank is to visually inspect the interstitial space between the tanks. U-FUEL has designed, tested and patented a gauge to monitor the interstitial space which will withstand impact and a two-hour petroleum fire in accordance with UL 1709. Should a leak occur in the product tank, it will be quickly noted in the simple, non - mechanical sight gauge. EirgEmargw y_Vents All U-FUEL Systems are equipped with an emergency vent for the product tank, sized to conform with NFPA 30 2- 3.6.4. Should the tank pressure exceed 8 oz. per square inch, the emergency vent will open and then close once excess pressure is released. All U-FUEL Systems are equipped with an interstitial vent sized to conform with requirements for emergency venting. Shouldthe producttank everrupture in a fire,the interstitial vent allows adequate venting of the secondary containment tank. VATA 17R1R SA In addition to the fire emergencyvents all U-FUEL Systems are equipped with a pressure/vacuum working vent located on top of the tank extending to the proper height above ground level. This vent remains closed until there is a differential pressure between the tank and the atmosphere. The working vent, sizedto conform with NFPA 30 2-3.5.2, 2-3.5.6, and 2-3.7.2, allows Stage I and Stage II vapor recovery, and minimal release of vapors into the air. 1. o All U-FUEL Systems are equipped with a means of inspecting and servicing the inside of the tank. Tanks with top fill systems may be entered by unbolting the manway/spill container. Bottom loadtanks have a manwaywith optional internal ladder. .&Ri1IUCa1oh_6asin All U-FUEL Systems with frontmountedpumps are constructed with a ventilated spill catch basin beneath the pump platform. The basin size varies with the size of the facility. All piping for standard facilities is located within the basin which ,provides secondary containment in accordance with NFPA 30A 4-2.1 and NFPA 30 3.4.2. A weatherproof hatch is constructed in the deck allowing easy access to piping and valves. The deck of the pump platform is removable for maintenance, IMAM rAM1517�[1T Based on EPA studies, most fuel leeks occur in the pipe running from the tank to the dispenser. Piping for U-FUEL Systems is held to the absolute minimum (generally a maximum of five feet). Within this short span of pipe are located three safety features -- a fusible link fire emergency valve; a normally closed solenoid valve; and a pressure valve and/or a shear valve -- all conforming with NFPA 30 3-3.3 and NFPA 30A 2-4.6.3 and 2-4.6.5. stag..eJ—Vap or_1_�fs rfkm Stage I vapor recovery piping and connections are standard on all bottom load U-FUEL Systems. In the unlikely event of a malfunction of an overfill valve, excess product will be pushed through the'vapor recovery system back to the tanker truck. All fill connections are 3" cam lock fittings. Stage I vapor recovery is also available on top fill systems. % gPJL-ALaRalrB_r_QQYerY Stage II vapor recovery is available an all single product U- FUEL Systems. For systems with pumps mounted on the front of the tank, the vapor recovery line runs from the spill catch basin (under the pump) into the tank, terminating inside the top of the tank. The fusible link emergency fire valve conforms with NFPA 30 2-3.8.1 and is located adjacent to the tank. The valve closes upon sensing heat from a fire. The valve can also be manually closed for maintenance of -dispensing components while product remains in the tank. f . • r-Ti • • .. �7[7a7flRllRa Located adjacent to the fire valve, the solenoid controls the flow of product to the pump in accordance with NFPA 30A 2-1.7 and 2-4.6.3. The solenoid valve is always in the closed position except when the fuel pump is on. This assures no product leakage should a catastrophic incident occur. All U-FUEL facilities of 5.000 gallons or less use a 3" top fill system designed to conform with NFPA 30 23.8 and NFPA 30A 2-4.9.4. Fuel from the delivery truck enters the U-FUEL System through a 3" fill tube extending to within B" from the bottom of the tank. The special fill tube with a 20 mesh filter, eliminates any splashing of fuel and limits dangerous vaporization. Major product spills (25 gallons and over) generally occur when tanks are overfilled. To assure no spills from overfills and to conform with NFPA 30 2-3.4.1(e), U-FUEL has incorporated an overfill warning system for top fill tanks not requiring Stage I vapor recovery. The U-FUEL overfill warning system consists of an internal alarm which is activated when the tank reaches 90`% capacity. Whenthe tank reaches 95%cepacity, the alarm quits and the tank will burp making it difficultto fill. For top fill systems with Stage I vapor recovery, a float activated shut-off valve is installed in the fill tube. •u K.TZT.u= Most large U-FUEL facilities have our unique 3" bottom loading system. The external components are located in a locked, liquid tight containment box with hinged lid attached to the end of the tank. Fuel from the delivery truck enters the tank through a 3" cam lock hose fitting, a 20 mesh filter screen, a manual gate valve, a one-way check valve, and then through an internal shut-off valve as required by NFPA 30A 2.4.9.4 and NFPA 30 2-3.4.1(e). Bottom loading is one of the safest ways to transfer large quantities of fuel. All U-FUEL top fill systems ere constructed with a spill container surrounding the fill tube with a relief port to allow any spilled product to drain back into the tank. Spills from bottom load systems are caught in a spill container with a manual drain. All U-FUEL facilities with bottom load systems have an internal float which closes an internal shut-off valve when the tank reaches 95% capacity. The shut-off valve is designed to begin closing when the tank is 909/6full. giving the re-fueler sufficient time to monitor volume, stop fuel transfer, and prevent a major fuel spill. The internal shut- off valve also minimizes the possibility of filling the tank to the point where fuel expansion would cause a fuel spill as required by NFPA 30 2-3.4.1(a). #[XTnRTA1r R• mTiU77iTRlia All electrical wiring associated with the U-FUEL System is in conduit in accordance with Ch. 5, Art. 500, NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. Most U-FUEL facilities come equipped with a junction box at the rear of the tank to connect power. Gro-unding All U-FUEL aboveground fuel facilities mustbe grounded at two points. The suggested site pad drawing will indicate the recommended location of two 1/2" grounding rods. All grounding requirements must be in accordance with NFPA 70. Fuel Ri_sRensers The U-FUEL System is fabricated to accept most UL approved fuel dispensers manufactured by major pump suppliers. If the customer has a fuel dispenser (suction type) that is still in good condition, it is possible to modify the U-FUEL System to receive the used dispenser. The customer has the option of purchasing a complete facility with a fuel dispenser installed by U-FUEL. Inc. or purchasing a facility without a dispenser and installing a separately purchased unit. To insure water tight secondary containment under the pump, an exact drawing of the pump base is required to allow fabrication of a pump support section. Labeling All U-FUEL Systems are built to UL 142 specifications for Secondarily Contained Aboveground Tanks and come with a Southwest Research Institute listing label affixed to the system. Other labels for product stored, instructional labels, and the U-FUEL logo are also affixed to the tank. P oter.tlQlafrarn Elements U-Fuel Systems are protected from the elements using a three step painting process. The complete system is first sandblasted then primed with a high solids epoxy primer, then painted with a quality Polyurethane paint. These tanks are listed and labeled by Southwest Research Institute as "Secondarily Contained Fire Resistant Tanks" conforming with Section 2.4 of NFPA 30A, thereby meeting UL 2065 Fire Resistance criteria. The U-FUEL Double Wall Fire Resistant Tank is typically sold with all of the above -noted design features. A unique fabrication process is used in conjunction with special steel. The tank supports run the length of the tank which increases its' strength. The U-FUEL Single Wall Fire Resistant Tanks are typically sold without the vents, valves and fittings normally found on other U-FUEL Tanks. These tanks, ranging in sizes from 300to 30,000gallons, are ideal to replace existing tanks in a dike, or for large fuel farm applications where there is a need for a quality Fire Resistant Tank. Built to UL 142 standards, these Single Wall Tanks are Listed by Southwest Research Institute, as conforming with UL 2085 Fire Resistance criteria. The Thermo Tank developed by U-FUEL is fire rated and provides an added level of safety and economy due to the insulation and fire resistantproperties of its ceramic lining and other modifications to the basic U-FUEL System. Coramic_L =9 The U-FUELthermo lining is a UL rated ceramic fiber which has a service range up to 2.300 degrees F and a melting point of 3,200 degrees F - more then twice the values of fiberglass. The 3" lining used by U-FUEL has an insulation "R" value of 12.45 and conforms with UL 1709 fire test criteria. The Thermo Tank can withstand 2,000 degrees F of temperature for two hours with minimal temperature increase to the inside tank, varying with the amount and type of product stored. Failure to protect tank openings will allow a considerable amount of heattransfer through vents, pipes, and access areas. The siphon supply is a continuously welded pipe beginning with a drop tube 2" from the bottom of the tank, exiting at the top of the product tank head, then running down the front of the product tank and exiting through the bottom of the secondary containment tank. (Similar to traditional U- FUEL tanks.) In the event of a fire, the unique insulated siphon supply provides an added barrier of protection. Resale MaLue Since the U-FUEL System is a totally self contained, portable fuel facility, it should retain a fairly high resale value depending on care and replacement costs. CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SERVICES In response to requests for Turn Key Fuel Systems, U-Fuel established a Construction Man- agement Division to take charge of site preparation for Aboveground Installations. PHASE I - Planning Customers desiring Management Services contract with U-Fuel to prepare a Project Plan, which normally includes code review, and site design with time and cost estimates. Normally within 90 days, a Project Plan -is presented to a customer for approval. PHASE II - Preparation U-Fuel prepares permit applications, consults with authorities having jurisdiction, inspects the site, revises plans after site inspection, interviews contractors, accepts bids, finalizes cost and scheduling projections and obtains customer approval to commence construction. PHASE III - Construction Management U-Fuel manages construction throughout the United States under the umbrella of a Master Construction Trust. As Trustee, U-Fuel contracts with bidders, provides construction super- vision and management, prepares project draw requests, disburses funds, and arbitrates misunderstandings. PHASE IV - Installation and Training Installation normally occurs in one day. During installation, U-Fuel is present as systems arrive, are unloaded, checked out, energized, filled with fuel, and started up. U-Fuel supervises contractors and trains service and maintenance personnel to use the systems. PHASE V - Backup After Installation, U-Fuel Production and Parts Departments provide ongoing communication with fuel site personnel to insure any warranty items that occur are resolved and the system operates in the manner intended.
