This building is constructed of structural steel and wood frame on a concrete slab -on -grade, with a plaster exterior, and a rubber membrane roof and a composition shingle overhang. The interior is built utilizing sheetrock, suspended ceiling panels; with ceramic flooring. ESI understands that areas of the interior are scheduled for renovation. Suspect materials sampled and analyzed were considered homogeneous when they exhibited similar physical characteristics, and the time of application can be correlated to various areas of -suspect material. Representative sampling of the suspect materials were based on the distribution of each homogeneous area. Friable/Non-Friable Materials: A Friable Asbestos -Containing Material (ACM) is a material that when dry, may be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure, and includes non -friable material after such material becomes damaged to the extent that when dry it may be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure (40 CFR 763.83). Analytical Procedures Bulk samples were analyzed by Environmental Analytical Services, LLC (EAS) in Houston, Texas, utilizing the Environmental Protection Agency's Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) Method for the Detection of Asbestos in Bulk Insulation Samples, (EPA 6001R-931116), and the McCrone Research Institute's The Asbestos Particle Atlas as method references. EAS is accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), participates in the NVLAP and AIHA Bulk Asbestos Sample Quality Assurance Programs, and is licensed to analyze bulk asbestos samples collected in the State of Texas (TDSHS #30-0373). Analytical results: Of the materials collected and analyzed from JIB #3693 located at 1018 Highway 146 South in La Porte, Texas, none were found to contain asbestos (greater than 1%). You should also be aware that the EPA has not prohibited the manufacture of non -friable asbestos - containing materials, such as vinyl floorings, mastics, and roofing materials, joint compound as well as materials arriving from other countries.
