Plans Submittal Requirements
The following items are required for a proper plan review and shall be included in your submittal
a.
Show the NFPA standard(s) and edition of the standard(s) utilized in design of the fire sprinkler system.
b.
Show reference information of "work by others" including, but not limited to, fire service line.
c.
Show occupancy/hazard classification and design density information.
d.
Show description of use for all portions of the building (including room names) included ap on.
e.
List the construction type of the building. Indicate if there are un-sprinklered, concealed o spaces.
f.
Indicate whether sprinkler system design is pipe schedule, hydraulically designed, or specia e

Show all applicable design info as specified in NFPA 13, 1999 and NFPA 24, 1995.

Show ceiling heights for all rooms and areas.

Show full height cross-section or details as necessary to reflect sprinkler and piping locations in relation to

Expiration of Plan Review:
Pursuant to 2003 IFC Section 105.2.3, an application for a permit for any proposed work or operations shall be
deemed to have been abandoned six (6) months after the date of filing, unless such application has been diligently
prosecuted or a permit shall have been issued; except that the fire code official is authorized to grant one or more
extensions of time for additional periods not exceeding nine 90 days each if there is reasonable cause.

Application
The Reliable Model G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 are the most
versatile quick response concealed sprinklers available. It
provides the best form of fire protection while offering an at-
tractive appearance and 1/4" (19mm) of cover adjustment for
ease of installation. The small diameter cover plate assem-
bly is easily attached and blends into the ceiling, concealing
the most dependable fire protection available, an automatic
sprinkler system.

The Model G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 are designed for use
where aesthetic appearance is important. Offices, hospitals,
motels and restaurants are but a few of the applications where
it can be used.
The Model G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 are UL Listed Quick
Response Concealed sprinklers intended for use in accor-
dance with NFPA 13. FM Approves the G5-56 and the G5-28
sprinkler as a standard response concealed sprinkler intended
for use in accordance with FM Loss Prevention Data Sheet 2.0.
Product Description
The Reliable Model G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 uses a proven
quick response fusible element in a standard style sprinkler
frame with a drop -down deflector This assembly is recessed
into the ceiling and concealed by a flat cover plate assem-
bly. The threaded engagement provides 3/4" (19mm) of cover
adjustment. The flat cover plate is attached to the skirt using
either 135OF (57°C) or 165°F (74°C) ordinary temperature clas-
sification solder.
When the ceiling temperature rises, the solder holding the
flat cover plate melts, the flat cover plate released thus expos-
ing the sprinkler inside to the rising ambient temperature.

Installation
Do not install the 35-56, G5-42 and G5-28 in ceilings which
have positive pressure in the space above.
• Cut a 211," inch (67nm) diameter hole is cut in the ceiling, the
sprinkler is easily installed with the Model PC Wrench. The
wrench has a socket drive which is inserted into the body of
the sprinkler. When installing a sprinkler the wrench is first
positioned into the sprinkler/cup assembly until the wrench
socket engages the body of the sprinkler. The sprinkler is
then lightened into the pipe fitting. When inserting or remov-
ing the wrench from the sprinkler/cup assembly, care should
be taken to prevent damage to the sprinkler DO NOT
WRENCH ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE SPRINKLER/
CUP ASSEMBLY. Install the cover plate by hand turning the
cover in the clockwise direction until it is fight against the ceil-
ing.
A protective cap is provided to protect the drop -down sprinkler
deflector from damage which could occur during construction
before the cover plate is installed. The cap is factory installed
inside the sprinkler cup. Remove cap to install sprinkler, then re-
install cap until the cover plate is installed.
Maintenance
The Model G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 should be inspected
and the sprinkler system maintained in accordance
with NFPA 25. Do not clean sprinklers with soap and water, am-
monia or any other cleaning fluids. Remove any sprinkler that
has been painted (other than factory applied) or damaged in
any way. Concealed sprinklers cover plates can not be painted
in the field, after installation or have any other coating applied
other than the factory finish. A stock of spare sprinklers should
be maintained to allow quick replacement of damaged or oper-
ated sprinklers. Prior to installation, sprinklers should be main-
tained in the original cartons and packaging to minimize the
potential for damage to sprinklers that would cause improper
operation or non -operation.

"THIS PLAN REVIEW MUST BE ON THE JOBSITE WITH THE APPROVED SET OF PLANS"
1) This Above -Ground Fire Protection system shall be installed by (Kauffman).
2) An RAM that works for (Kauffman) must be onsite for ALL Fire Marshal's inspection pertaining to
the Above -Ground Fire Protection system.
3) The tamper and flow switches shall be tied into the building fire alarm.
4) The Fire Marshal's Office approved set of Fire Sprinkler Plans, manufacture's product data sheets on
all equipment being installed, and the installation permit are to be on site for all Fire Marshal's Office
inspections. The On -Site Installer shall have a current State license, on his person, while on the job site.
5) HYDROSTATIC TEST - Hydrostatic test shall be performed in accordance to NFPA 13 and passed by
your company, prior to contacting the Fire Marshal's Office for inspection.
6) The fire sprinkler piping shall not be covered up prior to the Fire Marshal's Office visual inspections
of the piping and Hydrostatic test. If the piping is covered, and the inspectors cannot inspect as is
required by Fire Code, all of the obstructions will be required to be removed. NO EXCEPTION!! M
7) Contact the Fire Marshal's Office at least 24-hrs in advance (prior to cover-up) to schedule a Fire system
inspection. Failure to have. the system ready for inspection will result in a "failed" inspection.

DEBRIS.
5. A BUILDING PERMIT (AND ALL ITS APPLICABLE SUB PERMITS) MAY BE BASED ON
THE REMAINDER OF THE WORK TO BE DONE, HOWEVER, IF THE WORK IS NOT
COMPLETED WITHIN THE ALLOTTED TIME OF THE RENEWAL PERIOD, THE
BUILDING PERMIT (AND ALL APPLICABLE SUB PERMITS) MUST BE APPLIED FOR AS
A NEW PERMIT, AND ALL FEES WILL BE CALCULATED FROM THE ORIGINAL PERMIT
VALUATION.
