Sharp objects or hazards to the public shall be removed/disposed of immediately to reduce the potential for personal injury. PERMIT: Successful bidder shall obtain a permit from the City of La Porte Inspection Services Division located at 604 W. Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, 77571. The permit fee will be waived. INSURANCE: Upon award of contract, the successful contractor shall provide a certificate of insurance executed by an insurance company authorized to do business in Texas, and shall contain the following: WORKMAN'S COMPENSATION PUBLIC LIABILITY: PROPERTY DAMAGE: As required by State requirements. $100,000.00 any one accident $100,000.00 any one person $ 50,000.00 per occurrence $100,000.00 aggregate BIDDER'S BOND: A cashier's check, certified check of the bidder, or a prepared bidder's bond, shall be submitted with each bid. Amount of check or bond shall be five percent (5%) of total amount bid. Checks or bonds of unsuccessful bidders will be returned within three (3) days of award. The successful contractor -will receive his check or bond upon approved completion and acceptance of the job. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The fence shall be approximately three hundred forty seven linear feet (347') in length. Fence shall be framed in eight -foot (8') wide sections with a brick column separating the fence at intervals of thirty-two feet (32'), or four (4) sections of fencing. Fence shall be warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of completion. FENCE PANELS: Shall be tubular steel construction of pickets three quarter inch (3/4") square, with two (2) rails one and one forth inch (1-1/4") square. Pickets and rails shall be sixteen (16) gauge. Pickets shall be six feet (6') high with plastic decorative spears on top. Pickets shall be spaced six inches (6") on center. The tubular steel shall be primed with red oxide primer with two (2) coats, and shall be painted with a black enamel paint, after fabrication (SEE ALTERNATE FABRICATION) and prior to delivery to the site. GATES: Shall be two (2) gates, same construction as fence. Each gate shall be twenty- four feet (24') in width, with pickets that vary in height from six feet (6') to seven and one half feet (7-1/2') with spears on top, forming a wave. Gates shall slide out twelve feet (12') each way, with four inch (40) steel rollers. Supporting mechanism for gates shall be standard design and construction for such gates. (A diagram for placement of gates will be furnished within one (1) week). POSTS: Shall be tubular steel, fourteen (14) gauge. Each post shall be on both sides of eight foot (8') section of fence. Each post shall be two and one half inches (2-1/2") square, seven feet (T) high, and have door knob caps on top. Except at intervals of thirty two feet (32') in the fenceline, where columns are placed, these posts shall be placed every eight (8') feet in the fenceline. Each steel post shall be set in concrete to a depth of twenty-four inch (24") below ground level. COLUMNS: The columns shall be split faced limestone cinder block, sixteen inches (16") by sixteen inches (16") and shall be seven feet (T) high with a concrete cap., with hot -dipped galvanized panel connectors mortared in place as appropriate. Each column shall be built on a eighteen inch (180) by eighteen inch (18") by five and one- half inch (5-1/2") steel reinforced concrete slab footing. Columns shall be warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for a period of five (5) years from date of completion. FABRICATION: All steel to steel connections shall be mig welded with fence panels prefabricated prior to delivery to site. All field welds shall have slag removed, be wire brushed, with two (2) coats of red oxide primer and one (1) coat of black enamel paint applied on -site to match fence. The steel to brick connections shall be made with one and one half inch (1-1/2") by three eighths inch (3/8") lag bolts with leadhead-expanding nail fasteners. Each steel to brick connection will require one (1) lag bolt and one (1) leadhead, two (2) connections per panel. (see also Alternate 1 Fabrication below) ALTERNATE 1 FABRICATION' Alternative to painting specified above, the fabricated panels and posts shall be hot dipped galvanized prior to installation. The fabricated panels shall be hot dipped galvanized prior to installation on site. After installation, all welds shall have slag removed and wire brushed, and coated with a cold galvanized sprayed coating.
