The purpose of the site inspection was to identify suspect asbestos -containing building materials (ACMs) and to perform bulk sampling of those suspect materials to determine the presence, physical condition and quantities of ACMs prior to the renovationof the building. The site inspection of this area by Dolphin for the presence of ACMs was accomplished on February 1, 2001. The site inspection included collecting bulk samples of materials which, based on our previous experience, were likely to contain asbestos. Dolphin has attempted to exercise reasonable efforts to accomplish the investigation objectives, applying professional standards applicable to similar work performed in the industry today. This inspection was appropriate for a pro -demolition inspection. The inspection and sampling did not damage the integrity of the suspect ACMs. The samples were first examined for homogeneity and preliminary fiber identification by stereomicroscope. Percentages for the samples were determined by visual estimation. The lower detection limit for this method is one percent (1 %). Confitmed ACBMs are categorized as friable or non -friable. Friable ACBMs means any material containing more than one percent (1%) asbestos as determined by the reference method listed above that, when dry, can be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure. Non -friable ACBMs means any material containing more than one percent (1%) asbestos as determined by the reference method listed above that, when dry, cannot be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure. BUILDING DESCJ7IPTION The building is a single story concrete block and and steel of unknown age. The interior walls comprised of sheetrock. The ceiling is a suspended ceiling of 2' x 4' ceiling tiles. Heating and air conditioning is provided by a roof mounted units through fiberglass insulated ducts. The floors arc either bare concrete or covered with, one of five versions of floor tile.
