Goodman, PEN9753) inspected an existing 16' x 30' building located at 213 W. Main in LaPorte, Texas. This building is being remodlled by the addition of a sloping wood roof structure for composition shingles. This existing building is concrete fill on metal deck on steel bar joists supported on load bearing masonry walls. No_ structural deficiencies were noted except three concrete blocks on the right rear corner have been displaced and must be reset. The new construction As not adequately anchored to the existing roof. The following additions are required: 1.) Remove or repair the canopy over the rear door. 2.) Anchor the plate of the short stud wall on the east side to the existing concrete roof with ;�" bolts spaced 4 feet maximum on centers. 3.) Connect the plate to the studs and to the top plate with Simpson H4 hurricane ties 24"o.c. 4.) Connect the roof rafters to the top plate with Simpson.H3 hurricane ties 24"o.c. 5.) Anchor the west end of the roof rafters to the plate with Simpson H3 hurricane ties 24"o.c. 6.) Fasten the roof sheathing to the roof rafters. Slot allows field -bending; bend one time only. The HI attaches over the heel of the fatter or truss directly to the stud below, at pitches from 0:12 to 7:12.
