RESOLUTION
.',
WHEREAS1 the Board of Commissioners of the City of La Portet Texasl
at a meeting held the 1st day of November: A. O. 1948r duly passed and approved
a resolution closing the East-West runway of the Auxiliary Landing Field No. 2
of Ellington Fieidf now known as the City of La Porte Municipal Airportz and
ordered that such runway should remain closed and not used during the time the
Air National Guard used and occupied that certain 8~1 acre tract of such Airpnrt;
and

Dear lIayor Burgin:
Reference) your recent verbal request that we determine if the
St~te of 'fexas has any objections to the re-opening of the Eli
Rud.ay of the La Porte Municipal Airport. As you recall an Air
Force Regulation setting forth certain airfield clearance cri-
teria at the time this building was constructed caused the City
COJimission of La Porte to pass a Resolution closing the runway.
IncJosed is a copy of correspondence received this date from
Col>>nel Maybin H. Wilson: Chief Engineert Adjutant General~s
Dep.rtmentr State of Texas, advising that the State of Texas has
no bbJections to the re-opening of the runway in view of the fact
that no ll.ir National Guard planes are based at this installation.
It appears that a completed map of the airport showing all install-
atiens will be completed in the near future; upon receipt of a
COp! will be furnished your office.

you request the drawing of a map showing the Air National Guard

2. This work will be accomplished as soon as a draftsman is avail-
able..
3. In reference to paragraph 3 your letter of 16 October 1955 an
ilqoiry made at this Headquarters indicates that the State of texas
has no objections to the re-opening of tbe runway in view of the
fact that the Air National Guard has no planes based at the Airport,

WHEREAS, in view of the foregoing, it appears that the said East-
lest runway should not be closed:
NOlr THEREFOREt BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF LA PORTEr TEXAS that the resolution hereinabove mentioned: which was
passed on the 1st day of Novemberl A, D. 1948T is hereby rescinded and held to
be null and void, and further tbat the East-West runway of the Auxiliary Landing
Field No. 2 of Ellington Fieldt now known as the City of La Porte Municipal
Airport) be opened and usedi
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
