HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2023-04 with Tax Resale DeedRESOLUTION 2023- 04 WHEREAS, the City of La Porte foreclosed on a property ("the property") through a delinquent tax lawsuit and judgment identified as follows: LOTS 4 & 5, BLOCK 423, LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS AS SHOWN ON THE MAPS OR PLATS RECORDED IN THE REAL PROPERTY RECORDS OF HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS AND BEING THAT ACCOUNT SHOWN IN THE MAPS AND RECORDS OF THE HARRIS COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT UNDER ACCOUNT NUMBER 024-030-023-0004 WHEREAS, the City of La Porte remains unpaid after exhausting all legal means to satisfy the collection of the delinquent taxes due and owing to the City of La Porte, including conducting a public auction of the property by the Harris County Sheriff whereby the property was struck off to the City of La Porte and; WHEREAS, being no bids for the property at the tax sale on July 5, 1977, the City of La Porte now holds the property in trust to secure the payment of taxes, penalties, interest and costs owed to the City of La Porte; WHEREAS, the property held in trust by the City of La Porte is exempt from taxation and it is in the best interest of the City of La Porte to have the property returned to the active lax roll as a taxable property; WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has received an offer of S1,500.00 to purchase the property from Gus Brieden. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED by the City ofLa Porte: 1. That all of the above paragraphs are true, correct and in the best interest of the City of La Porte and as such they are hereby incorporated in full and made a part of this Resolution; 2. That the City of La Porte accepts the tax resale offer by Gus Brieden and authorizes the City Manager of the City of La Porte to sign and execute the deed on behalf of the City of La Porte to transfer title to the person submitting the offer to purchase the property.
