HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2024-07RESOLUTION 2024-07 WHEREAS, the City of La Porte foreclosed on a property ("the property") through a delinquent tax lawsuit and judgment identified as follows: LOT 5 IN BLOCK 77 OF TOWN OF LA PORTE, AN ADDITION IN HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, ACCORDING TO THE MAP OR PLAT THEREOF RECORDED IN VOLUME 8, PAGE 16 OF THE MAP RECORDS OF HARMS COUNTY, TEXAS. ACCOUNT NUMBER: 023-202-077-0005 WHEREAS, the City of La Porte remains unpaid after exhausting all legal means to satisfy the collection of the delinquent taxes due and owing to the City of La Porte, including conducting a public auction of the property by the Harris County Constables whereby the property was struck off to the City of La Porte; and WHEREAS, being no bids for the property at the tax sale on August 4, 2015, the City of La Porte now holds the property in trust to secure the payment of taxes, penalties, interest, and costs owed to the City of La Porte; and WHEREAS, the property held in trust by the City of La Porte is exempt from taxation and it is in the best interest of the City of La Porte to have the property returned to the active tax roll as a taxable property; and WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has received an offer of $6,423.79 to purchase the property from Nicolas Ortiz. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED by the City of La Porte: 1. That all of the above paragraphs are true, correct and in the best interest of the City of La Porte and as such they are hereby incorporated in full and made a part of this resolution. 2. That the City of La Porte accepts the tax resale offer by Nicolas Ortiz and authorizes the City Manager of the City of La Porte to sign and execute the deed on behalf of the City of La Porte to transfer title to the person submitting the offer to purchase the property.
