ORDINANCE 2024-4021 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY COUNCIL'S ADOPTED RULES OF <br />PROCEDURE BY REVISING THE ORDER OF BUSINESS; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF <br />WHEREAS, Councilpersons seek to conduct their meetings in an orderly and consistent fashion; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the La Porte City Council desires to revise the adopted order of business as provided <br />below; and <br />WHEREAS, based on authority of Section 2.07. Meetings. b. Rules. of the City Charter of the <br />City of La Porte, which provides that "City council shall determine its own rules and order of <br />business", the City Council finds that it is within its purview to amend the order of business <br />contained within the City Council Rules of Procedure. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. The City Council Rules of Procedure and Ethics Policy Section 6.05. "Order of <br />Business" is hereby amended by edits to the order and names of its items, which <br />section shall hereinafter read as follows: <br />"6.05. Order of Business. All meetings of the Council shall be open to the public, in accordance <br />with the Texas Open Meetings Act. Promptly at the hour set on the day of each regular meeting as <br />posted as required by law, the members of the Council, the City Secretary, the City Attorney, the <br />Mayor, and the City Manager, shall take their regular stations in the Council Chambers, and the <br />business of the Council shall generally be taken up for consideration and disposition in the following <br />order: <br />1. Call to Order <br />2. Invocation and Pledges of Allegiance <br />3. Recognitions <br />4. Citizen Comment <br />5. Presentations <br />6. Consent Agenda <br />7. Public Hearings and Associated Ordinances <br />8. Statutory Agenda <br />9. Reports <br />10. Items of Community Interest <br />11. Executive Session <br />12. Reconvene <br />13. Adjourn" <br />Section 2. Open Meetings Act Notice. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and <br />declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting <br />
