Dear Ms. Black:
Section 626 of the Cable Communications Policy Act of 1984
(47 U.S.C. S 546) ("Cable Act") provides that during the six
month period which begins with the thirty-sixth month before
the franchise expiration, the franchising authority may on
its own initiative, and shall at the request of the cable
operator, commence proceedings relating to the renewal of
the cable television franchise. Our records indicate that
the cable television franchise for the City of LaPorte, TX
will expire March 8, 1995. Pursuant to the authority of the
Cable Act as mentioned above, Prime Cable of Ft. Bend, L.P.
("Prime") hereby requests that the City of LaPorte, TX
commence proceedings to renew Prime's cable television
franchise for the City of LaPorte, TX.
