Re: CenterPoint Energy's Notice of Intent to Reflect a Refund for the Texas Coast Division
pursuant to Section 104.111 of the Gas Utility Regulatory Act
Dear Madam or Sir:
On August 1,2019, CenterPoint Energy Resources Corp., d/b/a CenterPoint Energy Entex
and CenterPoint Energy Texas Gas ("CenterPoint"or the"Company")made a filing with the City
of La Porte (the "City") pursuant to Section 104.111 of GURA for customers in the Texas Coast
Division, which includes the City, to reflect a net refund for certain deferred income taxes and
Hurricane Harvey restoration expenses. On August 16, 2019, CenterPoint made a supplemental
filing ("August Supplemental Filing") to amend its August 1st net refund amount to include
additional Hurricane Harvey proceeds.
In order to resolve the Company's pending 104.111 filing, CenterPoint is making this 2nd
Supplemental Filing ("October Supplemental Filing") to remove from its August Supplemental
Filing approximately $1,207,610 in Hurricane Harvey restoration costs incurred by CenterPoint's
Houston and Texas Coast Divisions as a direct result of Hurricane Harvey. CenterPoint may
request recovery of the Hurricane Harvey restoration costs in its next statement of intent filing in
the divisions. The result of removing such costs from the filing increases the amount to be
refunded to customers in the Houston and Texas Coast Divisions from$16,556,357 to$17,763,968
(the "Amended Refund"). The Amended Refund will be effective on bills rendered on or after
January 1, 2020 and amortized over three years.
As shown in the enclosed documents, the Amended Refund, over three years, is
approximately $17.8 million for customers in the Houston and Texas Coast Divisions, combined.
