<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS,
<br />RESOLVING TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR AND UTILIZE STATE AND/OR
<br />FEDERAL GRANT FUNDING TO PREPARE AN AIRPORT LAYOUT PLAN WITH
<br />NARRATIVE FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE LA PORTE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT;
<br />CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY WILL PROVIDE TEN PERCENT OF THE TOTAL
<br />PROJECT COST; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND
<br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
<br />WHEREAS, the City of LaPorte, Texas intends to make certain improvements to the La Porte
<br />Municipal Airport (T41), hereinafter referred to as the "Project"; and
<br />WHEREAS, the general description of the Project is described in the Airport Layout Plan with
<br />Narrative; and
<br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, Texas, intends to request financial assistance from the Texas
<br />Department of Transportation for improvements associated with the Project; and
<br />WHEREAS, total costs for the Project are estimated to be $350,000.00, and the City of La Porte,
<br />Texas, will be responsible for 10% of the total Project costs, currently estimated to be $35,000.00;
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, Texas, names the Texas Department of Transportation as its
<br />agent for the purposes of applying for, receiving and disbursing all funds for the Project and for
<br />the administration of contracts necessary for the implementation of the Project.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br />CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS:
<br />Section 1. The City of LaPorte, Texas, hereby directs Corby Alexander, in his capacity of
<br />City Manager, to execute on behalf of the City of La Porte, Texas, at the appropriate time, and
<br />with the appropriate authorizations of this governing body, all contracts and agreements with the
<br />State of Texas, represented by the Texas Department of Transportation, and such other parties as
<br />shall be necessary and appropriate for the implementation of the Project at the La Porte Municipal
<br />Airport.
<br />Section 2. This resolution evidences the City of LaPorte, Texas' support and acceptance of this
<br />Project and the agreement to make improvements to the La Porte Municipal Airport, by way of a
<br />Master Planning Document, and provide 10% of the total project costs and acknowledge TxDOT
<br />Aviation as the agent for administration of federal and state funds for this project.
<br />Section 3. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause, or any part of any section, sentence, phrase,
<br />or clause, of this resolution shall, for any reason, be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect
<br />the remaining portions of this resolution; and it is hereby declared to be the intention of this City
<br />Council to have passed each section, sentence, phrase, or clause, or part thereof, irrespective of the
<br />fact that any other section, sentence, phrase, or clause, or part thereof, may be declared invalid.
<br />Section 4. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and declares that a sufficient
<br />written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted
