HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2025-05_airport layout planRESOLUTION 2025-05 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, RESOLVING TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR AND UTILIZE STATE AND/OR FEDERAL GRANT FUNDING TO PREPARE AN AIRPORT LAYOUT PLAN WITH NARRATIVE FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE LA PORTE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT; CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY WILL PROVIDE TEN PERCENT OF THE TOTAL PROJECT COST; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, the City of LaPorte, Texas intends to make certain improvements to the La Porte Municipal Airport (T41), hereinafter referred to as the "Project"; and WHEREAS, the general description of the Project is described in the Airport Layout Plan with Narrative; and WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, Texas, intends to request financial assistance from the Texas Department of Transportation for improvements associated with the Project; and WHEREAS, total costs for the Project are estimated to be $350,000.00, and the City of La Porte, Texas, will be responsible for 10% of the total Project costs, currently estimated to be $35,000.00; and WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, Texas, names the Texas Department of Transportation as its agent for the purposes of applying for, receiving and disbursing all funds for the Project and for the administration of contracts necessary for the implementation of the Project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: Section 1. The City of LaPorte, Texas, hereby directs Corby Alexander, in his capacity of City Manager, to execute on behalf of the City of La Porte, Texas, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of this governing body, all contracts and agreements with the State of Texas, represented by the Texas Department of Transportation, and such other parties as shall be necessary and appropriate for the implementation of the Project at the La Porte Municipal Airport. Section 2. This resolution evidences the City of LaPorte, Texas' support and acceptance of this Project and the agreement to make improvements to the La Porte Municipal Airport, by way of a Master Planning Document, and provide 10% of the total project costs and acknowledge TxDOT Aviation as the agent for administration of federal and state funds for this project. Section 3. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause, or any part of any section, sentence, phrase, or clause, of this resolution shall, for any reason, be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this resolution; and it is hereby declared to be the intention of this City Council to have passed each section, sentence, phrase, or clause, or part thereof, irrespective of the fact that any other section, sentence, phrase, or clause, or part thereof, may be declared invalid. Section 4. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required bylaw preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this resolution and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. Section 5. This resolution shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval. PASSED and APPROVED this, the 0 day of December 2024.
