Meeting Minutes for the City of La Porte <br />Chapter 172 Employee Retiree Insurance and Benefits Board <br />Held on February 28,2012 at 2:00 PM <br />1. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 2:06 PM <br />Members Present: Steve Valerius, Clark Askins, Michael Dolby, Matt Daeumer, Aaron <br />Corrales, Heather Weger, Nicole Wells <br />Members Absent: Juliane Graham <br />2. Consider approval of minutes from November 1, 2011 meeting <br />Matt made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Michael seconded; the <br />motion carried <br />3. Receive report from McGriff, Seibels and Williams on Medical Claims <br />The Committee received a report from Steve Austin from McGriff, Seibels and <br />Williams <br />4. Consider approval or other action regarding options for a Tiered System for <br />Medical Coverage. <br />The Committee received a report from Steve Austin from McGriff on the budget <br />impact a Tiered system for medical premiums would have on the City's Medical <br />Fund. The report showed based on the City's turnover within the last 5 years, <br />doubling employee premiums for new hires, would bring an estimated addition <br />revenue of $17,886.90 annually and tripling employee premiums for new hires only <br />would bring an estimated additional revenue of $43,666.89. Based on this <br />information and the financial information received form the Consultant, the <br />Committee made a motion to not recommend the the tiered system to Council as an <br />option for impacting the medical fund. The motion passed unanimously. <br />5. Administrative Reports <br />Heather Weger informed the Committee her last day with the City of La Porte would <br />March 30`n <br />6. Board Comments — Matters appearing on the agenda; Recognition of community <br />members, city employees, and upcoming events; Inquiry of staff regarding specific <br />factual information or existing policy <br />None <br />7. Adjournment <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:28 PM <br />Approved and Passed this day ma 15"h 2012 <br />
