Minutes <br />of the previous meeting vrere read and approved. <br />The following members of the council were present. <br />Fred R Ruff, Geo Counts, Ueo. H warp and L C Lawrence. <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid. <br />4~lorkman and Axthur, ~y8 50 . News Pub . Co., X28 00 . V'Jright Motor <br />Truck Line,~2 35, Wilson Sta. and Ptg. Co.,2 98. F W Reynolds <br />~~28 00, H B Harrison, ~~28 00, Le Roy Tolle, p28 00. <br />By a motion offered by Ald. Ruff and Seconded by Ald. <br />Counts the finance committee was instructed to investigate <br />the necessary steps to take looking to liscencirg the sale 'of <br />beer in La Porte. <br />Carried <br />By a motion offered .by Alderman Ruff and seconded by <br />Alderman Counts the finance corrunittee was instructed to in- <br />_ vestigate a report from, the Tax Equalization Board that the <br />~~~~ "Tradewell Stores" of La Porte was not paying taxes on their <br />stock and fixtures although they had been duly notified to do ~ <br />so. The Committee was given power/to act in the matter. <br />Carried <br />Alderman Sharp offered a motion seconded by Alderman Counts <br />that the Street and Bridge Committee investigate the cities <br />right to require property ownaers to cut the grass and weeds <br />on vacant property within the city limits, and the best <br />method to pursue in enforcing the ordinance.
