• <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 8, 1938 8:P.M. <br />Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp with the following <br />aldermen responding to roll call: C. M. Agee, F. R. Boyle, <br />Fred R. Ruff. Absent: P. L. Benson, J• J. Roark. <br />City Attorney, Jno. S. Kiibler read a letter of July 6th from <br />Mr. Elbert Roberts, in which he requested delivery of the bonds, <br />and a warrant in the sum of X1107.08, plus ~ interest from <br />February 1st. 1938, and in this connection Tyr. Kiibler presented <br />a letter dated July 8, 1938 explaining the settlement made with <br />Gayle Bros. <br />Gayle Motion by alderman Boyne, second by Alderman Ruff, that the follow- <br />Bros ing resolution be adc.oted: <br />suit Be it resolved by the City of La Porte, Texas that: <br />In full, final and complete settlement of Suit No• 210,27, styled <br />Gayle Bros. vs. City of La Porte, in the 80th District Court of <br />Harris County, Texas, and of the indebtedness owing by the City of <br />La Porte to Gayle Taros., Frowing out of the construction of the <br />City of La Porte sewer system, the Mayor be, and is hereby, author- <br />ized and instructed to deliver to Gayle Bros. City of La Porte <br />Sewer Funding Bonds, dated ,may 10, 1938, No. 1 to 22, both inclu- <br />sive, in the sum of ~500.OU each, agr°regating the sum of X11,000.00, <br />with coupons attached, and tl~.at the Mayor and City Secretary are <br />hereby authorized and instructed to issue Wa:~-~•ants, payable to Gayle <br />Bros., drawn on the i~`arrant Interest and Sinking fund, for the follow- <br />ing amounts: One Warrant in the sum o.f X1107.08; one 'r'iarrant in <br />the sum of ,~121a..12 and one. ?Varrant in the sum of ~25?.92 and that <br />upon the delivery of such Bonds and Warrants the Mayor takefrom <br />Gayle Bros. a receipt for all of same, and it is so ordered. <br />Carried <br />end Alderman Ruff introduced an Ordinance No. 271 entitled: <br />Ord. AN ORDITdANCE REI3LTLATING THE OPERATION OF ANY DEVICE, <br />ampl t'y MA.CHINE, APPARATUS OR INS TRLIPIIENT TO INTENSIFY OR ATr±TPLIFy OR <br />REPRODUCE THE HU>`TAN VOICE OR ANY OTHER SOUND ON AP1Y PUBLIC <br />STP'EET, OR IN AT1Y BUILDING OR ON AR?Y PREMISE; REQUIRING A <br />PERMIT; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VI~LATIO' HEREOF AND DECLAR+k <br />ING AN EMERGENCY. <br />The Ordinance was read in full and it was moved by <br />Alderman Ruff and seconded by Alderman Agee that Ordinance <br />No. 271 be passed as read, and that notice of same be published <br />in the Daily Sun July 9, 1938. <br />Motion by Agee that adjournment be taken. <br />~'; ~ ! ~. - <br />Ass't seer tary, City of a Porte, Texas <br />Carried, No one Voting No. <br />
