<br />The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meetix~; was to adopt
<br />the Resolution to acquire the Ellix~^tori Auxiliary Laxiuixc Field
<br />~-'2 (Prester Field.).

<br />be adopted as read:
<br />RESOLUTION
<br />1h'HEREAS, tho City of La P®rte, Tex=~s wished to asquire,
<br />for immediate use, as an air port, the fellswin~ property: the
<br />Ellington Auxilairy laxdir~g field No.2 (Prestos field) approxi-
<br />mately three mi>•es ti`+est sf La Porte, Texas on the Sreacer Hi~h-
<br />way, together with the tower a.nd one small frame buildix~ lecrt-
<br />ed thereon; and
<br />,.' WHE>3EAS, the City will abide by all the terms, eoxditioxs
<br />and restrictions as contained ix Vr'ar Assets Admi~istrat~oxi SUrAlus
<br />Air Port ~reperty Regulation 8310 (J~~ne 26, 1946); and
<br />WHEREAS, the need Ser such Air p®rt is a.s fellows;
<br />present ixidustrial operation and the pla.r~ned i~nmed.iate future in-
<br />dustrial expansion require an air pert in this vicinity for the
<br />fast transportation of personnel and material;;an air flight
<br />training sche+cl is ncedeu immediately to provide training for a
<br />la me number of persons in this area interested in aviation:
<br />NU~F, TfiEREFORE, BE IT RESOLI'ED RY -THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br />CITY OF LA PG??TE, TF.?CAS that the City make applicm.tion to the year
<br />Assets Administraation to acq~~ire the hereinabove mentioned a.ir port
<br />a:ad improvements, subject to all the terms, conditions arsd restri.c-
<br />tions placed upon said property by '1'~ar Assets Administration Surplus
<br />Air Port Property Re~ulption 8316 (June 26, 1946) and that the
<br />Mayor, Fred R. Ruff', and the City Secretary, Mrs. Harold K. Sharp
<br />be, and they are hereby, instructed, authorized and empowered t®
<br />arrange for the acquisition of said air port, to execute all a~;ree-
<br />mcnts, commitments and instruments necessary for such aequisitiox
<br />ai:jta de all ether t>~aings accessary is effect the acquisition of
<br />said air port;

<br />deliver a certified. copy of this reselutier; to •the Vrar Assets
