r <br />• • <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION - NOV EMBER 16, 1961 <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor Pro-Tem <br />W.A. Stabs, Jr., with the following members present: Commissioners Osburn, <br />Brown and Dunham, City Attorney Pitman, Supt. Arthur, and Assistant City <br />Clerk Ruth Huddleston. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Carried. <br />A discussion was held on the problem of locating leaks or drainage from gutters <br />going into the sewer system. It had been suggested previously by the Mayor <br />that a letter be placed in the newspaper asking the aid of all people in <br />helping to locate such 'leaks. <br />The Assistant City Clerk was authorized to have such a letter placed in the <br />next copy of the La Porte Liberal. <br />A letter from W~J~ Mc Len, President of the Board of Directors oz" Happy Harbor, <br />was read aloud. I4r. Mc Len asked the approval of the Commission of the <br />waiving of the permit fee for the construction of the new home, soon to be <br />built. City Attorney Pitanan stated thatthe fee could be waived if this <br />amount is not included in the contractor-s bid. Commissioner Stabs will <br />contact Mr. Johnson for this information, and report back to Commission. <br />Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, to draw Firemen~s prize money, in the <br />amount of X200.00. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Osburn, second by Dunham, that the regular meeting nights of the <br />City Commission be changed back to the first and third Fridays, beginning <br />December 1,,1961. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Osburn, second by Dunham, authorizing Attorney Pitman to spend the <br />sum of X250.00 for the purpose of getting all necessary deeds to Block 1126 <br />from Carl Bissell, so that the City can continue with construction. <br />Carried. <br />Ordinance No. 632 was read in full, and upon motion by Dunham, second by <br />Osburn, such or dinance was adopted as read. The caption of such ordinance <br />reads as follows: <br />AId ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAFFIC AT A CERTAIN INTE RSECTION ON <br />EAST MAIN STREET IN THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS; FIXING A <br />MAXIMUM PENALTY OF X200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CON- <br />FLICT THERE[hTITH. <br /> <br />Carried. <br />
