<br />• <br />• JOINT PUBLIC HEARING <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL AND THE <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />February 18, 1981 <br />1. Meeting called to order by Mayor Meza at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor J. J. Meza, <br />Councilman I. J. Kibodeaux, Councilman John Tomerlin, <br />Councilwoman Virginia Cline, Councilman Tom Simons, <br />Councilman Norman L. Malone <br />Members of the City Council Absent: None <br />Members of the Planning & Zoning Commission Present: <br />Pat Muston, Walter Springall, R. J. Blackwell, Lindsay <br />Pfeiffer, Dallie Wright <br />Members of the Planning & Zoning Commission Absent: <br />J. B. Womack, due to illness <br />Other City Officials Present: City Manager James R. <br />Hudgens, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Betty <br />• Waters, Public Works Director Jerry Hodge, Police Chief <br />Herbert Freeman, City Engineer John Joerns, Fire Chief <br />Joe Sease, Chief Inspector David Paulissen, Fire Marshal <br />Paul Hickenbottom, Parks Director Stan Sherwood <br />Others Present: Keith Johnson of the Bayshore Sun and <br />41 interested citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilman John Tomerlin. <br />3. Mayor Meza stated the first case for rezoning to be heard <br />was from Mr. C. R. Jessie. Mr. Jessie asked for the re- <br />zoning of Outlot 90 from Residential to Commerdial. The <br />Council asked that Outlot 902 be rezoned at the same time <br />if the owner had been properly notified. The City Secre- <br />tary stated he had been so notified. <br />Mayor Meza asked for anyone interested in the rezoning of <br />Outlots 90 and 902 to come forward to speak to the joint <br />body. No one came forward. Mayor Meza asked if the owner <br />was present. Mr. C. R. Jessie stood. Mr. Jessie stated <br />it was his desire to have his property rezoned and Felts <br />was pleased with having his rezoned. He then stated he <br />is planning on building warehouses on his property. Mayor <br />Meza thanked Mr. Jessie and closed the hearing on the <br />• rezoning of Outlots 90 and 902. <br />4. Mayor Meza stated the second case to be heard was a request <br />for rezoning by John Sheffield for the rezoning of 12.705 <br />acres situated between Old Highway 146 and Galveston Bay. <br />
