CIVIL SERVICE • <br />COMMISSION MEETING <br />JULY . `~~ ,. ,1!~. 8 3 <br /> <br />MTNTTTF.S <br />PRESENT: Keith Trainer, Weldon Randall, Jim Longnecker, Chief Freeman, <br />& Mary Davis. <br />Mayor Virginia Cline also attended. <br />The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Keith Trainer. <br />The minutes of the February 17, 1983 meeting were read and approved. <br />Chief Freeman presented the new Police Department employee evaluation <br />forms which were developed by TCLEOSE -for the La Porte Police Depart- <br />ment. =:e stated that he is very pleased with .them. After going <br />over the evaluation forms, Commissioners' Longnecker and Randall <br />expressed that they were in agreement with Chief Freeman and that <br />they were very impressed with the new forms. Chairman Trainer <br />stated that he felt that TCLEOSE did an excellent job on the forms. <br />[4eldon Randall made a motion to adopt the evaluation forms. Motion <br />carried. <br />• Chief Freeman informed the Commission that Mr. Bob Berard from <br />TCLEOSE will be here on August 3rd and 4th to have an orientation <br />on the new La Porte Police Department Rules and Regulations. Chief <br />Freeman informed the Commission that he is very happy with the <br />format and new procedures can be inserted and implemented at any <br />time. A general discussion followed concerning various aspects of <br />the Departmental Rules. Chief Freeman stated that the Commission <br />and Council both will have to adopt these Rules and Regulations. <br />Jim Longnecker made a motion to adopt the Rules and Regulations <br />and presented by TCLEOSE. Weldon Randall seconded and the motion <br />carried. <br />Chief Freeman gave an explanation on the PAF exams which are being <br />offered by Wollack and Associates. Commission members were given <br />a sample of the test to enable them to see how it worked. Chief <br />Freeman stated that he would like to be able to give this exam to <br />all entrance applicants. Weldon made a motion to give PAF exams <br />to all entrance applicants; Jim seconded. Motion carried. <br />(Administrative Reports) Chief Freeman informed the Commission <br />about a Seminar given by TML on arbitration. <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:32 p.m. <br />• - ~ <br />Keith Trainer, Chairman Mary Davis, Director <br />Civil Service Commission Civil Service <br />
