CITY OF LA PORTE FIRE CODE REVIEW BOARD MINUTES OF MEETING May 10th, 2005 Members Present: Tom Handy, Richard Browder, Paul Hickenbottom, Jim Bridge, Lynn Green, Tim Bird, Floyd Craft Members Absent: Bryan Moore, Staff Present: Interim Fire Marshal Philip Creamer, Assistant Fire Chief Champ Dunham 1. CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 6:16 p.m. by the Chairperson Richard Browder. 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM MEETING OF APRIL 1ih, 2005. Dismissed by Chairperson Richard Browder due to the minutes not being available for review. 3. REVIEW INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE Interim Fire Marshal Philip Creamer informed the FCRB about the Fire Marshal's position being posted and that the FCRB should continue on its current path of reviewing the fire code. They are in control of the process and that they should continue. The FCRB reviewed the first few chapters again with Champ Dunham. Other items reviewed were the appendixes and pertinent information for the Fire Department. He was updated as to where the FCRB was in there review and what the review had come across thus far. It was decided that a representative from the Fire Department should be at the meetings since several chapters to be covered greatly affect the Fire Department and the safety of its members. Philip Creamer reviewed the information he had Glenda put together comparing the chapters of the two fire codes. Philip Creamer has several action items to be completed: . Get with Glenda to clear up some information on the review she was completing . Develop a comparison list of the new fire code. vs . the old fire code . List comments from first three chapters . List comments on chapters 4 - 7 . Review and distribute April's meeting minutes . Complete and distribute May's meeting minutes The Board decided to prepare to review chapters 8.12 at the next meeting. Fire Code Review Board Page 1 of 2
