<br />MINUTES OF THE LA PORTE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />September 27, 2004 <br /> <br />1. Call to Order <br /> <br />President Pat Muston called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members Present: Chuck Engelken, Pat Muston, Bill Love and Peter Griffiths <br /> <br />Members Absent: Ed Matuszak and Deborah Johnson <br /> <br />Staff Present: City Secretary Martha Gillett, Assistant City Manager Cynthia <br />Alexander, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Public Works Director Steve Gillett <br />and Assistant Finance Director Michael Dolby <br /> <br />Council Members Present: Mike Clausen, Tommy Moser and Mayor Alton E. Porter <br /> <br />Citizens Present: Martha Love. <br /> <br />2. Motion was made by Chuck Engelken to approve the minutes as presented. Second by <br />Bill Love. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Pat Muston, Chuck Engelken and Bill Love <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Peter Griffiths <br /> <br />3. Receive Report on Bay Area Boulevard and Canada Road Projects <br /> <br />Public Works Director Steve Gillett provided an overview of Bay Area Boulevard and <br />Canada Road Projects. <br /> <br />The design portion of Bay Area Boulevard has been completed. Harris County has <br />issued purchase orders on pipeline adjustments. The bids came in significantly lower <br />so there should be an overall cost savings. The County will award bids in October. <br />That date is subject to change. The trunk sewer is 50% complete. <br /> <br />On the Canada Road project, signed contracts from the County are pending arrival. <br />1.87 million is the County's portion. The pipeline adjustments have been completed. <br />The contractors have been prequalified. Preparations are being made for the bid <br />process. <br /> <br />4. Committee to discuss next Meeting Date <br /> <br />The next meeting date will be December 13th due to Christmas Holidays. <br /> <br />5. Administrative Reports <br /> <br />A report was provided to members on retail opportunities. <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Cynthia Alexander reported 4b funds may not be used for a <br />marina. <br />
