• • <br />MINUTES <br />• OF THE <br />REGULAR MEETING OF THE RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE <br />SEPTEMBER 11, 1984 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Director of Administrative <br />Service Bob Herrera at 10:00 A.M. <br />Members of the Committee Present: Risk Management Officer <br />Jackson Ray, Members John Armstrong, Steve Gillett, <br />Me-~e~ra, Lt. James La Fitte, Champ Dunham, Debbie Cole, Laura <br />Hall, and Bob Herrera <br />Members of the Committee Absent: None <br />Others Present: Personnel Coordinator Mary Davis <br />2. Opening remarks were made by Director of Administrative <br />Services Bob Herrera. Mr. Herrera discussed the pros and cons <br />of the Ambulance Corps as a City Department. He stated that <br />this item would be presented to Council at their Workshop <br />meeting on September 12th. Mr. Herrera briefly discussed <br />• advantages and disadvantages of taking the Corps into the City <br />as a separate department. <br />3. A presentation was made by Personnel Coordinator Mary Davis on <br />Workers' Compensation Claims. (Handout material on Workers' <br />Compensation Claims is attached to these minutes for permanent <br />record.) Ms. Davis discussed standard operating procedures <br />for filing the claims in the Personnel Office. The Committee <br />discussed alternate methods of filing claims, in-case of <br />emergency and no one was available to take a claim in the <br />Personnel Office. They decided that it was all imperative <br />that the employee be permitted to seek medical attention in <br />case of emergency before dealing with the claim. After <br />further discussion concerning the importance of including all <br />pertinent information when filing claims, the next item on the <br />agenda was brought before the Committee. <br />4. A presentation was made by Finance Officer Debbie Cole <br />concerning Risk Retention Calculation. (Handout material on <br />Risk Retention Calculation is attached to these minutes for <br />permanent record.) Financial data was presented including <br />current assets, liabilities, working capital, fixed assets, <br />debt, excess of revenue expenditures, unreserved and <br />undesignated fund balances for the different funds.
