<br />MINUTES <br /> <br />OF THE <br /> <br />LA PORTE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br /> <br />JUNE 23, 1983 <br /> <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Andy Wilson <br />at 7:00 P.M. <br /> <br />All board members were sworn in by Assistant City Attorney <br />John Armstrong. <br /> <br />Members of the Board Present: Andy Wilson, Sidney Grant, <br />Ronnie Rowell, Lawrence Farias, Charlie Young, Robert L. <br />Swanagan <br /> <br />Members of the Board Absent: Linda Mains <br /> <br />Others Present: Dan Williams, Assistant City Attorney <br />John Armstrong, Building Official Lamar Hollaway <br /> <br />Sidney Grant was appointed as Board Secretary. <br /> <br />^- <br /> <br />2. The minutes of the April 28, 1983, meeting were read by <br />the secretary. The minutes were approved by the Board <br />subject to Sidney Grant acquiring approval of previous <br />board members. <br /> <br />John Armstrong explained the proceedings of the board, <br />followed by discussion. It was decided an orientation <br />session will be called by the board Chairman. <br /> <br />3. Building Official Lamar Hollaway reviewed the request of <br />Dan Williams for a variance to permit a front yard side <br />fence at his residence at 4930 Meadowcrest. <br /> <br />Mr. Dan Williams made his request for a variance to the <br />board. <br /> <br />Discussion by board members was held. Mr. Williams spoke <br />again on his request. Discussion by John Armstrong and <br />Andy Wilson and members of the board on the definition of <br />"fence." <br /> <br />Motion was made to table the request. The motion was ruled <br />to be out of order. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Sidney Grant to grant Mr. Williams' <br />appeal. Second by Ronnie Rowell. The motion failed, 3 <br />ayes and 1 nay. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Grant, Rowell, Farias <br />Wilson <br />
