HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-13-18 Fiscal Affairs Committee Meeting CHUCK ENGELKEN, CHAIR JAY MARTIN Councilmember District 2 Councilmember District 5 DARYL LEONARD DOTTIE KAMINSKI Councilmember District 3 Councilmember At Large B Alternate Member MINUTES OF MEETING OF FISCAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MAY 14, 2018 The Fiscal Affairs Committee met on May 14, 2018, at 5:00 p.m., in the La Porte City Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, to consider the following items of business: 1.Call to Order Chairman Chuck Engelken called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. Also present were: Committee Member Jay Martin and Leonard. Also present: City Secretary Patrice Fogarty, City Manager Corby Alexander and Finance Director Michael Dolby. 2.Consider approval or other action regarding minutes of the March 12, 2018, meeting of the Fiscal Affairs Committee S. Harris Committee Member Leonard moved to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2018, meeting. Committee Member Martin seconded. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY 3/0. 3.Receive and review Second Quarter (FY2018) Investment Report M. Dolby Treasurer Shelley Wolny presented the Second Quarter (FY2018) Investment Report. 4.Receive and review months of December (FY2017) and January-February (FY2018) Purchasing Card Expenditures M. Dolby Purchasing Manager Cherell Daeumer presented the December (FY2017) and January-February (FY2018) Purchasing Card Expenditures. There were no questions. 5.Set date for next meeting M. Dolby Finance Director Michael Dolby asked the committee to decide a date to conduct interviews for recommendation to City Council of an auditing firm for independent auditor services for the City of La Porte. 6.Administrative Reports C. Alexander There were no administrative reports. 7.Committee Comments Matters appearing on agenda; Recognition of community members, city employees, and upcoming events; Inquiry of staff regarding specific factual information or existing policy. The RFPs were opened on May 22, 2018, five proposals were received. An evaluation committee reviewed the proposals and selected three firms for the fiscal affairs committee to interview. The firms are Patillo Brown & Hill, Weaver & Tidwell and Whitley Penn. Action Required by Fiscal Affairs; Conduct interviews and make a selection.
