AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES
April 29, 1997
1. The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by Chairman Larry
Tucker.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Larry Tucker, Vice Chairman John
Ladd, Secretary Steve Gillett, Members Hector Villarreal,
Cliff Hyde, and Deborah Rihn.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Member Mike Miller
2. The minutes of the September 12, 1995 meeting were read.
Motion was made by Hector Villarreal, seconded by Cliff Hyde,
to approve the minutes as presented. Motion was unanimous.
3. Chairman Larry Tucker administered the Oath of Office to
Hector Villarreal and John Ladd.
4. Airport Manager Steve Gillett updated the members on
activities since the last meeting. Highlighted was the recent
change to AIP funding from the FAA to the Aviation Division of
TexDOT. Funding will soon be available to purchase the Runway
Protection Zone in the northwest corner of the Airport.
5. Members Deborah Rihn and Cliff Hyde expressed concern wit""the
City's plans for the Airport. They feel that the aviation
business is in transition, and that funding necessary private
improvements will be difficult. The following concerns were
outlined.
A. Cost of new facilities, especially fuel and hangers.
B. No promotion of the Airport.
C. Need for full-time Airport Manager.
D. Specialized facilities needed.
1. Instrument approach.
2. Automated weather station.
3. Lower minimums.
4. Terminal building.
Motion by Deborah Rihn, seconded by John Ladd, to develop a
plan to address the above concerns. Motion was unanimous.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 10, 1997 at 6:30 PM.

6. Motion was made to adjourn by John Ladd, seconded by Deborah
Rihn. Motion was unanimous and the meeting was adjourned at 8:27
PM.
