Building Codes Appeals Board
Minutes of January 18, 2007
Members Present: Tom Campbell, Terry Bunch, Ken Schlather, Paul Larson and John
Elfstrom

1. CALL TO ORDER
Meeting called to order at 6:05 P.M. by Chairman Tom Campbell.
2. CONSIDER APPROVING MINUTES FROM THE NOVEMBER 9, 2006 MEETING
Motion to approve the November 9, 2006 minutes, as submitted, was made by Ken
Schlather. Second by Paul Larson. Motion passed unanimously.
3. REVIEW AND DISCUSS CHAPTER 24 OF THE RESIDENTIAL BUll.DING CODE
Following a discussion by the Board, Terry Bunch made a motion to close the review and
discussion of the chapter. Second by Mr. Larson. Motion passed unanimously.
4. ESTABLISH NEXT MEETING DATE, TIME AND TOPICS
John Elfstrom made a motion to hold the next meeting on February 15, 2007 at 6 p.m.
with the following agenda item: Discussion of Chapters 25-29 of the Residential
Building Code. Second by Mr. Schlather. Motion passed unanimously.
5. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
Staff member Debbie Wilmore provided the Board with a copy of the explanation cover
letter and Ordinance #96-2079-J (prohibition of back-stab electrical installation) that is
being provided to citizens and contractors.

6. BOARD COMMENTS
The Board discussed availability of the 2006 code books. Mr. Elfstrom made a motion
that staff obtain a complete set of the new code books along with documents that identify
the major differences between the 2003 and 2006 editions.
In addition, Mr. Elfstrom felt staff should begin review so their findings can be provided
the board. Second by Mr. Bunch. Motion passed unanimously.
7. ADJOURN
A motion to adjourn was made by Mr. Bunch with a second by Mr. Elfstrom. Motion
passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p. m.
