Chapter 172 Employee Retiree Insurance and Benefits Board
Held on February 28,2012 at 2:00 PM
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:06 PM
Members Present: Steve Valerius, Clark Askins, Michael Dolby, Matt Daeumer, Aaron
Corrales, Heather Weger, Nicole Wells
Members Absent: Juliane Graham
2. Consider approval of minutes from November 1, 2011 meeting
Matt made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Michael seconded; the
motion carried
3. Receive report from McGriff, Seibels and Williams on Medical Claims
The Committee received a report from Steve Austin from McGriff, Seibels and
Williams
4. Consider approval or other action regarding options for a Tiered System for
Medical Coverage.
The Committee received a report from Steve Austin from McGriff on the budget
impact a Tiered system for medical premiums would have on the City's Medical
Fund. The report showed based on the City's turnover within the last 5 years,
doubling employee premiums for new hires, would bring an estimated addition
revenue of $17,886.90 annually and tripling employee premiums for new hires only
would bring an estimated additional revenue of $43,666.89. Based on this
information and the financial information received form the Consultant, the
Committee made a motion to not recommend the the tiered system to Council as an
option for impacting the medical fund. The motion passed unanimously.
5. Administrative Reports
Heather Weger informed the Committee her last day with the City of La Porte would

7. Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:28 PM
