SPECIAL MEETING

AUGUST 19 ~30.
Meeting was galled for t~±e purpose o=t canvasing bids
for proposed sewer system and water eatention.
Meeting was called to order ry the Mayor, A N Mo Kay.
All members of the oouncil present.

The Mayor read a letter from B P Panes re_aonf~.rm,~ ,
{n6 his offer to take the X70 X000 ,00 sealer bonds and X15 X000 X00
Pater bonds at par and accrued interest and agreeing top the
pity of LaPorte the diference between this figure and the3AA+~~
X100 X000,00. Mr. Panay ,also stated that ~±e wet?lh b9 ab?.e tc fur-
nish clay pipe for the same figure as shown on his bid dor Oon-
crete pipe but would wive f_~~rther information next Friday P.M.
on this and also regarding the handling of the bonds.
A letter was rRad from Gayle Bros, stating that the
basis he used as the value of the bonds in making his bid i~as
ninety five cent. He stated that he would let the city have the
benefit of an option for a thing hav ?±eriod from date of aon,•
tract of any sale o! the bonds in excess of ninety five cents

and later the bonds are sold for a lower price than ninety five

purpose of examining the communications from Mr. Papas and Mr.
Gayle. After thorough discussion of both 1,ettera and other in-
formation at~ hands a motion was made by Alderman Sandel seconded
by Alderman ~jaff that the contrast for the sewer system and water
works extenaior_ re aw~.rded to Gayle Bros. for the sum of
X71 1732 X10 based on concrete •aewer pipe but reserving their ~
r~g~±t to substitute clay pipe at the best figure obtainable for
this product. All members of t~?.e council voteal yes thus grant-
ing to Gayle Bros the contract as submitted by them,
The representatives of the LaPorte Volunteer Fire
Dept. was now taken into consultation with the city council for
~~;,,..w the n+arvoee of considering plans for the City Hall and Fire Dept
1 building.
