The cornm.ittee appointed to examine ~uestionairs of applicant for the office of Plumbing inspector and make receom- mendations to the council submitted the foll.ov~ing. Fred R Ruff ~, ~,% '~ A motion was made by alderman Ruff seconded by ~i ~-~~~" Alderman Sandel thatthe receommendation of the committee be accepted, that Mr. J R vyilliams be employed as plumbing inspector and that the committee be discharged. Carried, A tax ordinance providing for the levying assessing and collecting of an Advalorem tax for the yBar 1931 was read. Alderman Sandel offered a motion seconded by Alderman Ruff that the ordinance be adopted and that thn rule requiring that an ordinance be read at three separate meetings be suspended and that the ordinance become effective and in full force on the date of its introduction. ` The secretary called the roll which resulted as . follows. Aldermen Ruff yes, H T Wall yes, L Sandel yes, Geo Sharp.. yes, and Le Roy Tolle, yes. There being a unanimous vote in favor of the adoption of the ordinance the mayor declared ordinance ;~ 239 in full force and effect. Gas Co. for the purpose of servising said premises wi£h gas." ' The resolution was adopted b y a unanimous vote of the cow.~cil. Wall Alderrnan offered a motion seconded by Alderman Ruff that the secretary be instructed to purchace 100 Worthington Type G water meters from the La Porte Hdw. Co. ., on their quotation od ;9,00 each F 0 B La Porte. Carried Alderrnan Sharp offered a motion seconded by Ald. Wall that the l~ia or appppoint a committee to draw up specifi- cations and ask for bads on making sewer connections. Carried The mayor appointed Aldermen Tolle, Wall and Ruff on this committee. the The Alderman Sharp. exhibited a First Aid Kit which Firemen asked the city to purchace for their use. price of the Ki.t being X13,86. Alderman Wall offered a motion seconded Alderman Sharp that the city purchace the Kit. by Carried. A communication was read from TvTr. Z~om Scott asking .the city to grade and shell 6th,street from P~Zain st. to ~ st. The secty. was instructed to write to Tyr. Scoot explaining under what terms the city undertakes such work. - The secretary was Japanese Nurcery in reference for the trees they planted at No further busine ad3ournment w s taken.
