A new street lighting contract with the rIouston Lighting
and Po~~rer Co. eras presented to the council and up-on
ti~otion by Ald. hgee which was seconded by Aldo Sharp
the contract Vras accepted u~r a unaniii~ous vote of the
Council and -the i+,.ayor and City Secty. was authorized
to .execute same. (For the main points in this contract
see foot of next page.) .

Ald. Sharp that the se3,ectian of four lights vahich udder ~ ~. ~':
the new contract are to be discontinued, was P~iven to the
street lighting conx~iittee.

officials of the H L and P Co. in an effort to have the
present minir~~um for dor:?estic service reduced from ~l 50
per month to conforrrl ti~itti the Houston r~:inir~um.

A lease of the vrater lines belor~ing to certain residen-
ces of the -Sylvan 'death Addition,to the City of La Porte9
was offered to the council for their consic;eration.
kld. Ruff made a motion wizicn eras seconded by Ald. Counts
that the lease be accepted and the i,:ayor and C.i°ty~~;Sectyo
be authorized to execute same.

Jno. S Kiibler appeared before the council in benalf of
H 1.. Ludley petitionirg the council to arapndl the present
rule requiring the owner of tti^vo or rr;ore ~zouses that vrere
;~ served water through only one i~~eter,to pay a rrinir:aun of
Cpl 50 per month for each house being so served,to ir~ake
only one minimum charge of y~l 50 per month where service
for all houses otivned by him tivas through the same r:~eter.

that the city gravel carrol ave. from wain sto to

Kerksey agreed to get property ovaners on Carrol ave.
to pay part of the e;fpense.
klderman Sharp offered a motion secoizded by ~.ld. Agee
that Tsars. Kerkseyt request be refered to the street
and A11ey Cor.~nlittee and that the corn~nittee report back
at the next meetir~ of the council.

which was accepted at this meeti~{g were as follows.
Contract dated Jamtary 1/34. Number of ornaments]. stand-
ards reduced from 18 ,to 14: Rite per light reduced from
~4 50 each to ~4 2 92 each.
