The following members of the council were present. Fred R Ruff, Geo. Counts and C ~~ Agee. Minmtes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The following bills were presented and ordered paid . Secretary eras instructed to check the bi7.ls of the La Porte Hdw. Co. and 1.8,, Porte Lber. Co. before payment was made. 216 Service Sta. ~3 Ul, ~'~'orkman and Arthur, X12 30, Sou. Vd Bell Tel. Co. 9 65, La Porte Lber. Co. X42 22, Pfeiffer Elec. Co. X15 55, La Porte Hdw. Co. ~p12 11, Hughes h~otor - Co. ~ 3 i5 and L U Casteel, ~4 U5. treo. Counts reported for the street 1lghtirg commmittee that they had been given assurance by officials of the Houston Lighting and dower Co, that anew schedule was being worked out on domestic rates and that 1.a Porte would benefit by any reduction made. Ald. Counts made a motion which was seconded by Ald. r3tff ~, that the 114ayor and City Sec+ y. be authorized to turn over -- ~~~'~ to c~ayle Bros. bonds issued in settlement for completion of sewer contract if and when Uayle Bros, satisfied the City that all of Uayle bros. creditors had been satisfied. Carried. bin. A V Henegan appeared before the council complaining that J ~ Shelor had erreeted a fence across Holmes st.just east of xoscoe and asked the city to have the street opened up. AI d, Counts reported that his investigation disclosed the fact that the La Porte City Council had given permission to fence the street at this point about the year 1925. Ald, Counts offered a motion seconded by Aid. Agee treat the secretary be instructed to investigate the records and if it was found where permission had been granted to fence Holmes street at this point to report at the newt meeting and that the council recind the grant. Carried Aid. Counts off Bred a motion seconded by Ald. Agee that the 1.a Porte Ind. School Dist. be notified that they would be permitted to remove only 75 yards more of ~rhe railroad gravel for use on the school ground. ~~ Carried.
