All members of the council were present. A bi 11 was received from Ir,rs . Fannie Kempner Adou amounting to X23.72 vrhich represents taxes paid on city property on which others had also paid taxes and asking f'or refund. Ald. Counts offered a motion vrhich teas seconded by Ald. Agee that the City Sec' y, check up on the account and report back to the council at the next regular meeting. Carried. The Sec' y. read a communication from Joseph ulough asking for a reduction in his vrater rate on account of using a small amount of vvater. The matter eras refered to the 'dilater ~i~, Committee by a mation made by Ald. Agee and second by Ald. ~~5~~~, Boyle. By a motion made by Ald. Boyle and second by Ald. Roark the city Sec' y. was instructed to conforrrr to the present rate - of penalties for delinquent taxes unti 1 further orders from the council. Ald. Counts notified the council that J K Yurifoy had closed the entrance to the community pi or at the south end ~~=~3s+E~ of Lobit St. with a gate and eras requiring a twenty five cent fee for entrance t o the pier . ~ a moti on by Ald. Boyle and~,•~•~~~ secon d by Ald. Counts the City Atty. eras instructed to ' investigate the legality of such a move and report his find- ing to the City Sec' y. who will write to Ls. Purifoy. Carri ed ~~ On motion by Ald. Holton and second by Ald. Counts the assistant to the Sec' y. was granted an increase of w~25.00 per month in her salas8. ' Carried .~ Upon motion by A1d. Agee and second by AId. Counts the appointment by the mayor of F UJ Reynolds, Frank Dorgan and Le i~oy Tolle on the Board of Ec uali zati on was approved . Upon motion by Ald. Holton and second by Ald. Boyle the Budget for 1935 was approved as amended. Ald. Agee made a ration which was seconded by Ald. Boyle that the City Attorney draft an ordinance to replace Ordinance ~ 166 providing fora dog tax and 'Ghe impounding for observation of any dog that has bitten a person. Carried. Upon motion by ALD. Foyle and second by Ald. Holton the City marshal was instructed to contact i:,r. C ~ Ulstad and request that he allow his dog that had bitten on• of the Casteel children to be iu~pounded for observation. Carried.. (Page Two) Upor~ motion by Ald. Holton an coinpensati on of the 1~,ayor and a record vote as follovrs. The Ordinance will be known as Ordinance ~ 251 A resolution providing for the distribution of all revenues to the several departments was adopted by a motion by Q].d. Boyle and second by Ald. Holton. The Resolution is herewith attached and is made a part of these minutes. Carried . The City Sec' y. was instructed to prepare a detai:Led statement showing all money accredited to and all disbursements made from the funds of the several departments beginning with April 1 1935 down to date and showing the balance in the funds of each department and submit a copy of such statement to each member of the council and that in the futiure at each meeting of the council furnish to the D~ayor and each member of the council a statement showing the financial condition of each of the several departments and particular:Ly showing the amount of money on hand at the last meeting, the money received since the last ;and the bills to be presented for payment at the then Present meeting. Upon motion by Ald . Agee and ~ by Ald. Holton the FYrst National Bank of La Porte was designated as the depositary of the cities funds. Carried. The city sec' y. was instructed to procure bonds for himself and sssistant. Upon motion by Ald. Holton and second by Ald. Roark city Secy. was authorized to pay the accounts of J A T Seammen and Goodrich Rubber Co. and charge same Fire Dept. Budget. Carried. 'Upon motion by Ald. .Holton and second by Ald. Agee applications for the position of `~Jat er Worlcs Bngineer '.~'. and truck driver would be asked for and considered at a special meeting to be held at 8 0' clock P.I~~ Friday June 28th. The matter of penalties and interest on delinquent taxes would also be tagen up at that meeting. Carried Jno. S Kiibler, acting as a representative of 'the La PoEte Chamber of Commerce appeared before the council and asked that body to givo him and his committee authority to represan.t the City at a meeting to be held at Ft. Z;forth, in an effort to procure a P vu A Loan and Grant for im- provements to the Sylvan Beach Park.. The above action without financial obligation to the city. Carried . Ald. Roark offered a motion vvhich was seoonded by A1d. i Holton that the City Council make a complete settlement i with J H Rafferty, upon surrender of all maps and data on the water works extension and sewer f~~~~~~~~ system; This settlement of the balance owing to J H Rafferty to be made upon the basis as heretofore agreed to by the Council. Carried. `~~ ! Upon motion by A1.d. Roark and second by Ald. Boyle the council was authorized to employ an engineer to perform what ever engineering work was required and i furnish specifications, drafts, cute, etc. in order for the city to make proper application to the work relief authorities to secure laboe on city work relief projects; That the attached list of projects be included in the cities application and that the several committees submit in writing to the work relief committee their recommendation for other and additional work in their respective depart- ments, to be included in the cities application. Carried . The f ollovri ng motions were acted on favori bly. Ald. Koark made a motion and kld. Holton seconded the motion that ~ all motions herewith be adopted. I~.OTI ON: It_ OTI ON ;~ Carried . Following are the motions; That the position of engineer or maintanace man at the city water plant be abolished on and after June 30th., 1935 and that Geo. Blair be discharged on that date. to employ a truck driver and general utility man for three days of each week, eight hours per day ; to be paid at the end of each week at the rate of 40 cents per hour. In addition~to other duties this employee will perform without additional compensation the duties of the GJater Plant maintanance man which were formsly performed by Geo. Iti~ OTI ON: T~.OTT OId: To increase the salary of the cities maintenance man, A S Hamilton by the sum of X10.00 per month effective April 1.1935.
