Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp, the following Councilmen re-
sponding to roll call: C.~.+`_.Agee, J.J.Hoark, Geo.Holton, F.R.Boyle, Fred R.
Ruff.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as corrected.

Motion by Al d. Boyle,second by Ald. Agee that about Jtme 21st bne half of
A.T.Seammen bill of ~101.25,namely X51.25 be paid out of the General Fund.

Motion by Ald• Boyle, second by Ald• Agee that X50.00 be paid on the account
of X200.00 due Learned do Tapp, to be laid out of the General Ftiind. Carried.

The regular monthly report of the Corporation Court for the month of L7ay was
read. Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Al d. Ruff that this report be accopted
and placed on file. Carried.
Letter-Hou.L?~P, reduction
A letter to Mayor Sharp from the Houston Lighting 8c Power Co. relative to
adjustment of street lighting schedules, saving the City ~51a.•QO per year,
was read and orderod placed on file.
Motion by Ald. Agee, second by Ald. Holton that the~City Secretary be in-
structed to write the Houston Lighting & Power Co. a letter of thanks.
Carried.
V'rater Supply County Health Officer
A letter from Dr J.Herbert Page~to Dr Ares reporting on the City 1"dater
Supply,also report from Texas Health Department Laboratories that the
City '!`dater Supply is free from contamination, were orddred placed on file
by motion of Ald. Ruff, second by Ald• Boyle. Carried.
Newspaper.-.. Bids.
Motion by Ald. Holton, second by Ald• Roark that the Newspaper bids be read.
Carried.

City Secretary
On motion of Aldo. Agee, second by Ald. Holton the following resolution war> adopted:
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of La Porte that hereafter it shall
be the duty of the City Secr etary to keep a dail~r, record of the hours of .labor per- ''~~
formed by the City employees and to submit the same to the Mayor on Friday of each
week;
As compensation for such services the City Secretary shall receive tl:e sum of X10.00
per month.

covering the job, by Fif.E.Hooper• Carried•

sewer pipe,by lineal foot. The bids were as follovrs: X16.00 per hundrod feet,less

Motion by Ald• Agee, second by Ald. Roark that the bid on concrete the for sewer
pipe @ ~0~16 per foot be awarded to Huweiler Lumber Co ., low bidder. Carried. i.

honored by•the visit of Franltlin Delano Roosevelt, Presi-
dent of the tTnited States on Thursday, June 11th, 1936,
and;
1'~HEREAS, Ba.._ Oscar Holcombe, Mayor of the City o£
Houston and general chairman of the Presidentts Reception
Committee, has appointed the City officials of La Porte. as
members of such 6ommittee to greet the President;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, George H. Sharp, Mayor of the
City of La Porte, hereby proclaim Thursday, June 11th, 1936,
Presidents day and declare it a City wide holiday. In co-
operation with Mayor Holcombe of Houston and in honor of our
President, I cordially invite the citizens of La Porte and
urge them to join us in giving the President a hearty welcome
to Houston and Harris County, Texas.
