Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Sdammen on Fire Insurance policies be paid on or about July 21st, out of the General Fund. Carried. '+"arrant- Learned & Tapp -- Motion by Ald. Age®, second by Ald. Ruff that the Mayor and City Sec- retary be authorized to issue a warrant to Learn®d do Tapp for the sum of X120.09 to be applied on their account of X150.00 and which is to be returned to the City as payment of taxes on Lots 15 to 18,inclusi~e, Block 21.x., Bay Front, Town of La Porte, v~dlich lots Mr T.J.Tapp is con- tracting to purchase from. the City of La yorte• P~4otion also included the folloo~ing resolution "Be it resolTed that the City of La torte ac- ]mowledge receipt of a sufficient consideration paid by Thomas J.Tapp; and the Mayor of the City of La torte and the City Secretary are hereby authorized to convey to Thomas J.Tapp, Lots numbered Fifteen(15), Six- teen(16), Se~-enteen(17) and Eighteen(18) in Block numbered Twenty-Four(21~.) of Bay Front Addition to the said Town of La Torte, in Harris County, Texas, releasing and gait-claiming any interest that the City of La Porte may hake in and to said lots purchased by it at Sheriff's 'sale on the° 1.~th day of December,1923, to be executed in the name of the City of La Torte by George H.Sharp, bZayor and attested by the City Secretary." Ruff that the Mayor and City Sec- retary be aut?:~orized to draw a warrant from the Int.~C Sinkg.Warrant Fund for payment of Interest Coupons on City of La rar~te Refunding Warrants due July lOth,1936, warrant to forwarded to l~nufacturers Trust Co,New York where Coupons are payable. Carried. over 2 • Report on wF®11 ~2 L.E.Erwin, City Engineer, submitted the following report on Well ~2: First adjustment on pump was made by representatiTe of Sou. Engine do Pump Co. on June lOth,1936, according to their agreement at Special meeting of Council June 9th,1936. On June 30th, 1935, Mr Jackson of Sou. Eng.& Pump Co. came down at 1:30 P.M.. He suggested leaning the Well just as it was. No further adjustments were aoa.de. Motion by Ald. Ruff, second by Ald. Agee, that this ~spl~*'~~ report be accepted and placed on file. Carried. Report -Corporation Court. On notion of A1d.Boyle; second bg Ald. Ruff the report of the Corporation Court for the month ending June 30th,1936 was ardered placed on file. Order and Contract- Worthington P9leters. Motion by Ald. Ruff, second by Ald. Boyle that the Water Com. order an add- itional Q5 ti"~orthington"Watchdog" meters and that the Mayor and City Secretary ba authorized to sign the contract for saz~e, also for t~~a 25 meters that had been ordered by the Water C~. on July 6th, 1936. Carried. Com. on Typewriter and Fan. nee and Ald. The Mayor appointed a Corenitteo composed of Ald. Boyle, Ald. Ab Ruff to purchase a Typewriter and a Fan for the City. This Coimnittee was given power to act, Awnings Motion by Ald. Agee, secand by Ald. Boyle that the Buildin Com. be author- ized to purchase 2 awnings for the City Secretaryts office. Carried. Shell inn; Alley The matter of shelling the Alley back of Guy Hamilton's plac® was referred to the Street and Alley Com. Bicycles on sidewalks Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Ruff ,that the rsatter oi" bicycle riding on the side~ralks of La torte be referred to the Police Com. Carrie3• Screen _ng Motion by Al d. Ogee, second by Ald. Boyle that the bids on the screening of the City Hall office be closed and that the contract be award~erd to Edw. Cowley on his low bid of 2~j.50. Carried. Painting City Hall '~~oodwork Motion by Ald. Agee, second by Ald. Boyle that the matter of paintbng the outside woodwork of the Cit,r Hall be turned orer to the Building Com. .with instx^zctions to get bids on the job. Ruff, that the +i~ater Com. take up with Brown-Root Co. the matt®r of water to be used by them in construction of brides and that this be worked out to the satisfaction of both the City and Brown-Root Co•. Carried. Speed Lise.it Moti on by Ald. Ruff, second by Ald• Ages that the utter of signs for Speed Limit of 20 wiles per hour to be placed at City Limits, be turned oYer to the Police Com. with power to act. Carried. Boyle that the balance of X17.00 due Mr A.H.Nagy as a pipe refund on his water account be allowed to be applied as a crodit on Idlr Pdagy's City Taxes. Carried. Sewer Job The report of the Sewer Com. on the bids recei4ed on sewer work in the Alley between 8th do 9th Steeets from So. B to Ma 7.n St. was to the effect that the Com. opened j~he bids which were as follows: ~r0•~~ per lineal foot, ~L D.Beck; ~~0.16-2 per lineal ft, W.E.Hoaper; ~O.11Y per running foot, J.F.De Lewder. The job was awarded to J.r.De Lawler on his low bid, and the City Attorney was instructed to draw up a contract to be signed by the City and Mr De Lewder. Upon the refusal of Mr De Lewder to sign said contract the job automatically ~ went to the next lowest bidder, namely Mr MJ.F.Hooper, who signed the abose mentioned contract. Motion byt Ald. Ruff, second bye Ald. Agee, that the report be accepted and pla~¢ed on file. Carried. On motion of Ald. Agee., second by Ald.
