Ruff the report was ac- cepted and ordered placed on file. Pa,~ne~t an Am. La prance Dote The City Sec'y reported that the payment of X750.00 and interest of $$!+3•?5 to Sept.lst,1936 on the Amerigan La France note of X1,750.00 due Oct.1,1936, was made Sept.lst. Balance of ~1,00~.00 was renewed by note due six monthd from date,with six percent interest. Original note for X1,750.00 was returned to the City by the Am.La France people. rsx~.cel1 ~7arrant Seasido P~eal~~ Corp. The City Secretary asked authority of the Council to cancell i~ City Y~(arrant x-236, dated June 2,1936 in the amount of. ~86•C~ issued in favior of the Sea- side Realty Corp. Tae warrant was issued to refund overpayment of taxes by said Corp. in the years 1929,1930 ~: 1931, only with the pro-viso that texas of Barbour Est. be paid i3~ full. Tdotion by A1d.Ruff, second by Ald. Agee that the City Sec'y be given authority to cancell this said warrant. Carried T.'Iotion by Ald: Boyle, second by Ald. Ruff that the City Sec'y be authorized to settle the City's Account with Brown-Root Constr. Co; om termination of City's contract with said Company for water. Carried City ~aployeee- Vacation Motion by Ald. Ruff, second by Ald. Boyle that City E~aployees who have been employed by the City for one year or more be entitled to ten days vacation with pay. Ruff, second by Ald. ogee, that the chairman of the tiYater Com. be given authority to build a locker in the City Ha11 building to house 3F7ater Dept. tools and parts. Boyle that the matter of opening bids on supplies for the 1'7ater Dept. be turned over to the Z`later Com. with power 1„0 act. Carried Lr fi.L. Ilolland a~c / Ald. Ruff reported that it would be necessary for the City Council to mako an adjustment on the water account of Dr. T.L Holland, tenant in the L~I.H.James cottage below Sylvan Beach, due to the fact that the meter at that place was a cubic foot Neptune meter and had been improperly read causing. an excess charge to be made ~n the Dr Holland account. Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Agee that the City Sec'y be authorized to make proper adjustment on the said Dr Holland account and to issue City V~arrant in settlement thereof. Carried. Closing City Hall of~"ice Sat. P.li. Ald. Ruff introduced the matter~of closing the City Hall office on Saturday afternoon beginning Oct. 1st. After. discussion Ald.-Boyle offered a motion ~'~` that the matter be deferred until the next regular meeting night. Motion carried. Belt ~. Pulley- Pump Ho~~se Motion by Ald. Ruff, second by Ald. Boyle that hhe matter of making necessary changes in the belt and pulley at the pump house be turned over to the Vlater Com. to canvass bids and that the Com. be given power to act. Carried Cleaning alleys motion by Ald, Ruff second by Ald. Agee that the Street aril Alley Com. b® given authority to clean alleys of firehazards and to hire whatever help may be needed in doing this work. Carried. ' ~~ Check-up on ~!n. La France - Ald. Boyle reported that the American. La France pumper is An need of a general check up and asked that the City Sec~y be instructed to write the America: La France people requesting them to send their traveling repair man to La Porte to make this the ck up when he is in this vicinity. Motion by Ald. Boyne, second by Ald. Agee that the Fire Com. be given power to act in this matter. Carried Side-walk- Johnson Bldg. I.:ain St• The City Sec~y was instructed by the Council to write Mr N,A, Jml~nson in re- gard to the sidewalk fronting his new building on Main St. that in-as much as there was a sidewalk in good condition in front of this property before build- ing operations began , also due to the fact that a permit should have been taken out in advance and the new sidewalk built according to specifications of the City that the City will be unable to pay any part of the cost of the new sidewalk. Power rat©- ,':rater Power • The Cit,~r Council authorized the City Atty. to investigate the power rate for dater Power and instructed the City Sec~y to hold up the payment of tiVarrant for the last bill of the Houston Lightg.& Pourer Co. until such investigation could be made. Ruff that the letter of Attty Albert Young regarding the sanitation on propr y adjacent to the Minor Stewart,Est, be turned over to the Sewer Com. for action, and that the City See'y be instructed to write Attty Yo ung to this effect. Carried. ,. ~ i 3 ;supplies for Fire Dept. Ald. Boyle reported that the Fire Dept. v~ras in need of certain supplies ~; and equipment. Ilgotion by Al d. Ruff, second by Al d.
