Meeting was Dolled to order by Mayer Sharp with the following Aldermen present:
F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff. '
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Shojc gun from Alen
Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Ruff, that the City purchase a shot gun
from E.P. Allen for X10.00, to be used in killing dogs, and that the City Sec-
retary ba instructed to issue a warrant to Mr Allen in payment for this gun.
Carried:
An acknowledgement of the final payment of $280.00 on the contraot for Fire
Hose from Eureka Fire Hose Div. was read and placed on file.
A quotation on bushings for Buffalo Pumg from the S~unthern Engine and Pump
Co. was read and plaoed on file.

Bonds, from H.C. Burt & Co. be placed on file. Carried.
I.0.0.^. Lodge
~' Motion by ALd. Boyle, second by A d. Ruff that the City Council extend an in-
vitation to the Oddfellows Grand Lodge of Texas to meet in Houston in 1938 to
celebrate its 100th anniversary. Carried.
John Pfleiger Release
Motion by Ald. Ruff, seo~nd b~ Ald. Roark that the release signed by John
Pfleiger and the City of La Porte be Peoeived and placed on file. Carried.
Affidavits on burning of Bonds and Warrants
Motion by A d. Ruff, second by Al d. Boyle, that-the affidavit- showing that the
following desoribed Bonds were destroyed by fire, be accepted and placed on file;
Bonds as follovrs: City of La Porte- Refunding Bonds, Series of 1931.x., numbered One(1),
Ttvo(2), Three(3) and Four(4), each in the principal sum of One Thousand Dollars,
01,000.00), dated October 10,193}x., also that the affidavit showing that the fol-
lowing described Warrants and Interest Cou~.pons attached therbbo ,were destroyed
by fire, be accepted and placed on file; Warrants and C~upons as follows:
City of La Porte Refunding Warrants, Series 1935, dated January 10,1935 to Janu-
ary 10,1950, optional prior to that date, being Warrants No•2 for X162.22; No• ~.~.
for X500.00; No. 5 for X500.00 and No•8 for $500.00, together with the Interest
Cgupons No.!~.to 29, both inclusive, attached to each of said warrants, which
Interest Cpupons were due and payable in their numerical order semi-annually,
beginning July 10,193? to January 10,1950, both inclusive. Carried.
;~, Affidavit of Fred Hartman on the "ad" in the Daily Sun concerning the war on
stray doffs in La Porte was received and placed on file.
Warrant to Ralph Mount
Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Roark, that the City Secretary be instructed
to issue a warrant to Ralph Mount in the amount of X6.40 for work done for the City
as per atatea;tent submitted. Carried. over

H.F. Griffith taxes
Motion by A,d. Bo le, second by Ald. R art, that the City Secretary be instructed j
to issue a 1Yarra~ in the amount of ~2~•.!-~41 to H.E. Griffithb as per statement sub-
mitted by him, to be applied on tease owed the City of La P rte when these taxes
are settled in full. Carried.
Y.VY.C.A. project y
Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by A d. Ruff, that the Mayor be authorized to reply
to the letter from Mrs R.H. Goodrioh, Chairman of the Y.W.C.A. Camp CoTmnittee,
regarding a W.P.A. project for Casa del Mar, stating that the City will be glad
to co-operate in any way possible without assuming any financial responsibility _,
in the matter. Carried.
Old City of La Portia Funding Warrants.
Motion by Ald. Boyle, second 1~y Ald. Ruff, that the old City of La Porte Funding
Warrants be referred to the C,ty Attorney to be reported on at the neat Council
meeting. Carried. ^
A report on the water samples which are Bent monthly was made and placed on file.
Ald. Ruff made a short informal report on his trip to the Water Works Short School
at College Station and informed the Council that he ~rould make a complete report
at the neat Council meeting.
Calling election
Motion by Aldo Boyle,$econd by ALd• Ruff,~that the following motion be adopteds
Be it ordered by the Mayor and the City Council of La Foi'te;.:FTex~.s that the an-
nual election be held at the City Hall Building. in said City of La Porte, on the ~
6th day of Apri1,1937, for the purpose of elec°t:ing three members to the Board of
Aldermen of said C~ty. It is furi~her ordered ~?~hat said eleation be held in
the manner prescribed by law for holding such elections= It is further ordered
that the returns of such eleation be delivered to the C ty Council of said City,
i.n open session, as soon as practicable after the closing of the polls.
It is further ordered that proper notice of such election be published in the
official newspaper. Car~tied.
Contract-Sy~van Beach Consumers.
Motion by A d. Boyle,_second by Ald. Ruff, that the Contract and P~w®rs of At-
torney of the Water Consumers below Sylvan Beach, as submitted by the City At-
torney, be accepted and placed on file. Carried.
Traffic Lights
Motion. by Ald. Ruff, seoond by Ald• Roark , tat the matter of Traffic Lights for
the C ty be referred to the Street Lighting Com. to get all information necessary
including prices, location etc., and report to the next Council meeting.
Carried.

F re Dept• Water Tank
Motion by Ald. Ruff;, :eecond by A1d.Roark, that the matter oP a Water Tank for
the Fire Dept. Truok be turned over to the Fire Com. to get information and es-
timates, consult the Fire Dept. and report back to the next Council meeting.
Carried.
