Meeting was called to order by .Mayor Sharp with the following Aldermen responding to roll call: C.l~~. Agee, P.L. Benson, F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff. ~:~inutes of the last meeting were read and approved. A.N. Mc Kay appeared before the Council in the interest of the local Relief Committee, asking that the City cont~bute $5.00 per month toward the administration of relief in La Porte . ?5.00 per mo.*Ald. Agee offered a motion which eras seconded by Ald. Boyle that Relief the City pay X5.00 per month on the salary of Der J.A. Anderson, of Goose Crock, Texas, who is the t~irector of Relief for this area, . warrant_to be made in favor pf the local relief committee, to be turned over by them to the ti~elfare League of Goose Creek. '_+mtion further provided that the Mayor and the chairman of the City Relief Com. be included in the membership of the local relief committee. Carried. Ashton Pdr C.L. Ashton appeared before the Council to report that he was sewer ready for the Sewer Coru~ection agrred to by the Council at his pro- gravel perty in block 279 La Porte. He also asked that the street formed by the old Railroad right-of way be graded when the gravel had been removed. The Council agreed that this should be done. A communication from Norris Bros. waa read complimenting the Council on their action in installing traffic signals on Main Street. The letter was ordered placed on file. Insurance The City Secretary handed to the Council the renewdd policies of Policies Indemnity Insurance on the Volunteer Fire Department and the Fire Insurance Policies on the Fire Trucks, together with ~E;•le•tter from Mr A.T. Seammen,Agt. in regard to the terms of payment of the pre- miums on these policies. Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Roark that the Indemnity In- surance Policy -~:F'. 3~.92;raanei~al. J.T. Stock- ~~~- ton. Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Agee that the matter of these taxes be turned over to the Ta~.Com. for recommendation. Carried. over -._ _ ,.~` ink Truck Fire C@m. Chairman Boyle reported that the Fire Dept. Tank Truck ordered on bid from the Electric t^lelding and Engineering Co. had ~~' Acce ed -- been delivered and accepted by the Fire Chief and the Chairman of the Fire Com. A motion was offered by Ald. Boyle, seconded by Ald. Agee that the contract price of X169.50 for Tank Truck be paid to the Electric Melding and Engineering Co. by City Warrant. Cax•ried. Traffic The Committee on Traffic Lights reported that they had been in- i~ights stalled. Motion by Ald. Roark, second by Ald. Boyle, that the ~cce ted traffic lights be accepted and that the Pfeiffer Elec. Co. bill for installing same be paid as per agreement and as per gchedule prepared by the C~ty Secretary. Carried. v Audit The City Secretary handed to the C unc:il the audit of Lear3~ed & Accepted Tapp for the fiscal year from April lst,1936 to Mar. 31st,1937• ' Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Agee, that the audit of Learned & Tapp be accepted and that their bill of X125.00 for . same be paid by warrant. Carried. Publish ~~otion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Ruff, that the Council cause Financial to be printed in the official newspaper a statement of the ourrent Statement assets and current liabilities of the City as set forth in the an- nual audit, 3 columns, ten inches, and that the J.L. Dunham account ' be stricken from the assets and deducted from the total. Carried. Gas for Plotion by Ald. Agee, second by Ald. Benson, that the Truck drivers Trucks for the City be instructed to use "regular" gas in the trucks. Carried. fax Refunds Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Agee, that a refund of X3.03 be made to Mrs Goldie Seid Hartshorn on taxes collected in error on lots assessed in the name of Jas. A. Reid in the year 1930, a warrant to be issued~on the Delinquent Tax Fd. for the amount, also that Mrs M.E. Prindle be given a Tax Deposit receipt for the amount of X0.89, this amount having-been collected in excess on Lot 25, Bllock 91, Bayfront ,assessed in the name of Mrs A.B. Leav- Britt f.er•_the year 1932, and to refund the amount if requested, from the delinquent Tax Fd. Carried. dank tlotion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Ruff, that the Council ratify the ap- pointments ~f the Mayor. Carried. The Mayor annouced that he would appoint a relief committee at a later date. a Official Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Ruff, that the Daily Sun be appointed News- as the official newspaper for the City of La Porte for the doming fiscal paper year. Carried. City Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Age©, that Jno.S. Kiibler be retained Attorne~r as the City Attorney for the coming fiscal year. Carried. Street Motion by Ald. Ruff, second by Ald. Agee, that the Street ~ Alley Com. in- biaterial vestigate the product and cost of the material being used by Goose Creek on their streets and report to the next meeting. Carried. Motion by Ald.
