Ageo, R.L. Rensor_, F.R. Boyl© J.J. Boarlc, Fred. 1?. Ruff. The P~`ayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consader the the exchange of certain Bonds,offered as collateral by the first itiat- ional Banl: on their contract as depository for City of La PCrte Funds, fcr certaixi other Bonds. Exchange I: ot.en by Boyle, second bz,r Ruff, that the Iv`ayor and City Secretary be authorized to sign a letter agreeing to the exchange of two Cameron Ends County, Texas 5~o Road Bonds in.ahe~.~rincipal sum of X1,000.00 each for tyro Angelina County Road Bonds 5~ Serj.es 19'0 No. ~ nd 6, dated June 10,193C, due June 10,191~1.,~ch ~'S:~hprJt~~i~~3e~~e~~L~~i~$g~S~a~~ch ta.ched~ following consultation of the mayor with the City Attorney to ascertain the ~.lidity of these Bonds. Carried All members of the Council being present, it was unanimously agreed to take up the follovrin~ additional items of business: authorizing t'-.e City* Attorney to send out final notices on delinquent taxes, instructing the City Secretary to write a letter to the Post- master ir_ regard to L.L. Ervrin acting as substitute Rural Route car- rier, adoption of holidays to be observed, setting up vacations for City employees, authorizing requisition of gasoline on trips for City business, raising the salaries of. the City Attorney and Assistant City Secretary, setting hours and vrages of the three regular City e?~ployees. Letter to I~~"otion by Agee, second by„Roa.rk, that the City Secretary vfrite a letter Rostmaster to the Postmaster of La Porte, sendir_f` a carbon copy to L.E. Erwin, stat- ing that the City wYll be~unable to alloy L.~~,. Erwin time off to serve as substitute Rural Route carrier. Carried Holidays T':?"otion by Agee, seror_d by Benson, that the following holidays be ob- served by empl~ees of the City, without pay, except those on Monthly salary, no other holidays to be observed, viz: 1937, April 21, San Jacinto Day, P.Iay 30, I.~emorial Day, Ju1y,1~., Independence Tjay, Sept. 6, Labor Day, Nov. 11, Armistice Day, Nov. 25, Thanksr;iving Uay, Dec. 25, Christmas I:~ay, 1938, Jan. 1st, lvTew Years Day. Vacatio3~s Motion by Roark, second by Agee, that all Cit-~r employees serving with the City more than one year continuously, be given ten days vacation with pay, thirty days notice to be given the City before going on va- cation. Carried. Grading I,'oticn by 1?uff, second by Benson, that the Street end ~l.ley Com. Equipment be authorized to make a trip to Houston to investigate grading equipment. Carried. City Atty Tvlotion by Ruff, second by Benson, that the Cit~T Attorney's sal- Salary ary be raised X5.00 per month beginning June 1st, 1937. Carz•ied. Asst Sec. P+"_oticn by Ruff, second by Roark, that the salary of the Assist- Salary ant City Secretary be raised X10.00 per month beginning June lst,193?. Carried. Hours wages ^.~otion by Boyle, second by Roark, that the hours of the three Employees regular employees of the City, L.1. Frwin, Jack Olive and A.S. Katnilton, be forty hours per week at a vrage of 0.~0 per hour, beginning Friday A.Pp~.:, June 11,193?., and that a Committee be appointed by the hrayor to work out a schedule of work hours with the men. Carried. The b?ayor appointed the following committee to act, P.L. Benson, F.R. Boyle, J.J.Eoark. There being no further business, the Council by common consent, took adjournment.
