Benson, F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Huweiler bill The City Secretary asked that the payment of bill of Huweiler Lumber ratified Co. dated December 31,1937, which was overlooked at the January 10 meeting but paid on Jan,11;1938, by warrant No.1511, be ratified. Motion by Boyle, second by Roark, that payment of Huweiler Lumber Co bill in the amount of X0.75 be ratified. 8arried Worthington Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that one third of the bala.noe of the Gammon Worthington-Gammon Meter Co. of X206.25 be paid, the amount being ~E,g.?5, Carried. A'ote T:gotion by Roark, second by Benson, that the Mayor and City Secretary First Nat.Brik be authorized to draw a warrant on the General Fund for payment of the sum of X600.00 and interest to date in the sum of $27.00 on the note of X1,200.00 due the First National Bank on March 1.,1938, and that the balance of $600.00 be reneaved for 90 days from date of this payment with EFf. per annum interest from date of note. Carried. Boatrigr~t Motion by Ruff, second by Roark, that the letter of commendation to C~.~,ud Boatright,Contractor, which the City Secretary was instructed at the January 10th meeting of the Council, to write, with copy to be mailed to the Texas League of Municipalities, be tabled. Carried Letter to I~~otion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the Mayor be authorized to Senators write letters to our two State Senators and Congressional Repre- sentative Albert Thomas, opposing the Homestead Exe~ttption bill proposed by Senator Sheppard. Carried. hunt Motion by Ruff, second by Benson, that the matter of delinquent tax- Block 305 es on Lots 20 and 21, Block 305, La Porte, owned by ;Y.W. Hunt, be tabled until further information can be obtained in bannection with the purchase of the lots from the City• Carried. 'Mater 1~orks Motion by Boyle, second by Benson, that the Chairman of the Water School Committee, Fred R. Ruff, be sent as a delegate from the Counoil to ~ _ the Twentieth Annual ~laterworks Short Course to be held at A.& M. College,College Station, February 1~. to 19 inclusivei with ~35•~ expense account allowed. Carried. over • Correspondence The City Secretary presented letters from Broxming-Ferris Co.,Fumble Oil Co. and Brown-Crammer Investment Securities Co. which were ordered ~' filed. mater Samples The Secretary reported that the samples from the Yyater System which were sent to the State Laboratories in January showed good in report of test. Burroughs The Secretary reported down payment made on the Burroughs Adding Machine Schedule and presented the schedule of monthly payments to be made, which were ordered filed with the contract. Penalty Motion by Boyle, second by Roark, that the City Ts.x Collector be instruct- ed not to charge psiialty on Current Taxes which are paid within the first month after the regular delinquency date of February lst,1938.
