Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp with the following Aldermen
responding to roll aalls,C.M.Agee, P.L. Benson, F.R. Boyle.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and apprc~ed.
Lotion by Agee, second by Boyle that the bills in the aaount of #t~.o.03
as per-the following schedule, be paid by warrants drawn ~+n the General

to pay the Humble Oil & Refg. Co. bill of ~17•IO for paint and secure
a eredit of ~l~.91 for returned paint. Carried

be paid the suss of X68.75 on their account of X137.50. Carried

Browning- Motion by Agee, seaond by Benson, that Browning-Ferris Co. be paid the
Ferris balance due on the scarifier, being X95.00 and interest to date in the
aswunt of~l•92, warrasrt to be dravrn on the General Fund for same.

I~Zrs L. Motion by Benson, seaond by Agee, that Mrs L. Nelson be paid X300.00 on
Nelson principal and accrued interest to date in the amount of X27.50 on her
Anticipating Warrant of X1,000.00 due August 31,1938, and that the balanoe
of X700.00 be renewed for one year Eras date of this p~yreeht`atAE~ per annum
interest. Carried.
F.^. Motion by Boyle, seaond by Agee, that the matter of the bill for Ys put
Gillette in by Fred G. Gillette, at his machime shop os San Jacint® St. and the
concrete house on So. Seventh Ave, be referred to the Seurat Committee
for recommendation. Carried
L.E.?~'rrvin The City Secretary presented the resignation of L.E. Erwin as an employee
of the City to be effective on or before February 2!}th,1938.
Motion by Boyle, seaond by Agee that the resignation of L.E. Erwin be ac-
cepted as of February 23,1938• Carried.
L.L.Price Motion by Boyle, second by Agee, that L.L. Price be employed in L.E.Erwin's
pleas at the same wages, same hours and sane tune as Erwin was employed,
beginning February 1I~,1938• Carried.
Letter Motion by Boyle, second by Benson, that the Mayor and City Secretary be
L.E.Erwin authorised to give L.E. Erwin a letter of recommendation for his past
services to the City, the letter to be written by the City Attorney and
signed by the City staff. Carried.
Ratify Iv4otion by Boyle, second by Agee, that City Warrants dravm for stamps, water bill
Warrants post cards and City Hall gas bill, as per schedule which follows, be rati-
fied;

Letter ~~otion by Boyle, second by Benson that the letter from the City Attorney
Baldwin in regard to the ~'.T. Baldwin property in Lot No.18 of the W.B. Lowranoe
Subdivision of the Johnson Hunter League, be accepted and planed on file.

The City Secretary presented a letter from Z~t.W. Hunt in regard to his
property described as Lots 20 3c 21 , Block 305 La Porte, setting out
the terns on which he bought same from the City.
Cancel Motion by Agee, second by Boyle, that the City Council cancel all City
Taxes taxes and suit oosts on Lots 20 and 21, Blook 305, La Porte, up to and including
Flock 3C5 1933 taxes. This propet~y is now owned by V~T.w. Hunt. Carried.
Special Mayor Sharp called a special meeting of the City Council for Sunday Feb-
ruary 20,1938 at L:00 P.I+E. to oonsider the offer of settlement which Gagle
Bros. have made in their suit against the City, also the caae of F.T. Bald-
win against the City.
V~ater ~dotion by Agee, second by Eoyle, that pipe line connections applied for
Conn. outside the City Limits be turned over to the /hater Committee for action
according to contraote in force. Carried.
WaterBonn Motion by Boyl®, second by Agee, that in the future the City require that
Apts. all apartments where new water service is desired,have a separate conneot-
ion and meter for each apartment.
Carried.
!~ Nc.L c~c P Mayor Sharp appointed Ald. Boyle and Attorney Kiibler as a committee to
call on H.O. Clarke, Jr to see if it is possible to have Houston Lighting
and Pvtver maintenanoe men for this area stationed here.
There being no further business, on Motion by Agee and unanimous consent
of those present, the Council took adjournment.
