Meeting was aalled to order by Mayor Sharp, with the follcwing Aldermen
responding to roll call: C.R4. Agee, P.L. Benson, F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark,
Fred F. F;uff.
The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to purchase fire
hose for the Fire Department.
The Mayor called on Fire Chief Guy R. Hamilton who reported that the
fire hose the City has on hand will not meet the requiroments of the
State. He reported further that the City has on hand 2,200 feet of
fire hose, some of which is eight years old, so that the City must
depend on 500 feet purchased in 1931. and 500 feet purchased in 1937,
only 500 feet of which is really safe for use ander 200 pressure.
Mr Yamilton stated that 1,000 feet of hose is really needed but that
the City can get by for the present with a purchase of 500 feet.

Alderman Boyle then made a report on the visit~of H.D. Keepers,
State Fire Insuranee,Engineer. Mr Keepers, after inspecting the
City water pumps and the streets, finding 95~ of the residential
streets accessible to fire trucks, stated that upon receipt of a
copy of a map of the City streets, he would reeo~end a 2 cent re-
duction on the Cityts key rate.
After a report on the price and terms for the purchase of fire hose

the following aotion was offered by Alderman Ruff, second by Boyle:
that the City buy 500 feet of 22 inch Eureka Multiple Woven Fire Hose
at X1.10 per foot, under the same terms as called for in the City's
contraot with the Eureka Fire Hose Division, dated October 29,1936.
Alderman Boyle asked for a record vote Which resulted as follows:
Benson, No, Roark,No, Agee, No, Boyle, des, Ruff, des. Motion lost.
After a lengthy discussion Alderman Boyle asked that the vote on the
aotion be re-taken and recorded. The Mayor called for a record vote
on the aaotion, with the following rosult:
Benson, No, Roark, No, Agee, No, Boyle, Yes, Ruff, Yes.
The Mayor declared the motion lost.
There being no further business, on motion by Ruff, the meeting ad-
Mourned.
